thats all i wish they would do let us know they will or wont offer nxdn
im about to pull the trigger on a trx2 if i dont here something soon the latest whistler update seems to have fixed the nxdn trunking issue

Can I ask a practical question at this point?

Now that the competition has already beaten Uniden to the NXDN "punch", what harm would there be if Uniden were to announce they are working on NXDN? None, right? So why all the secrecy?

Just tell us already if you are or arn't. There is no competition left to "tip off".

I wont buy a Whistler because my preferred method of programming my Unidens are ARC software and manually inputting on the fly while somewhere not near a PC. I will wait for the Update or the new unit whichever comes next

Corporate Policy (which has already been covered previously) aside, there's no upside for Uniden releasing a statement on NXDN development.

If they say they are working on it, there would be countless threads, wailing, and gnashing of teeth about the length of development (why don't we have it yet? when will it be done? It's been _____, how much longer?)

If they say they are not working on it, there would be countless threads, wailing, and gnashing of teeth about why they should.

Then 'company policy' must have changed because I still can't control my 536 from anywhere as was previously announced.

I may hold off on a trx for a bit I got a private msg a bit ago from a pretty reliable source saying nxdn is in the works but couldn't go into detail as to how long but did say they were close

But they have also been close to a lot of things for a couple years so we shall see I'll wait a little bit but not long

I would be more shocked to find out they aren't working on it. I also truly believe they are working on it, I'm just hoping they have not ran into major issues. I believe with Whistler fixing their issues with NXDN, it's time sensitive for Uniden to announce something or release something.

When I bought my 1st 536 it was IPHONE only I will never own an IPHONE so that was not even an option. I saw where PROSCAN did work before I bought the 436 then 536 and now a 2nd 536 plus 2 996p2's. It is like a computer I had to buy software to do the things I wanted with it also not a problem for me.

They announced the advanced analysis features of the Home Patrol Extreme upgrade would be included in the 436 and 536. I still don't have those features.

They also announced the release of DMR before it was officially released.

When there is a problem, admit it as soon as possible.

Customers are not stupid. Ignoring or denying a legitimate problem is not the way to handle it.

Perhaps Uniden has decided that it's better not to announce something until it is built and has been successfully tested, rather than getting people's hopes up and then disappointing customers when there are technical delays or problems.

Or just refund everyone's money that bought the 4 and 536 that bought them based on promises of features coming that are still not here??

I am also patiently waiting for Uniden to offer NXDN on the x36HPs. I have both the TRX-1 and 2, and the NXDN conventional scanning of Los Angeles Metrolink stations is excellent. Not been too successful with some NXDN trunking here in LA. However, the search features on the TRX-1 and 2, to put it kindly, "suck." It's a joke for top of the line scanners to have such limited search features and direct entry. So I too am hoping Uniden is planning something.
No doubt the SDR route can be cheaper if you stick with the RTL dongles, but go to the AirSpy, and SDRPlay (all which I have including SDRPlay RSP2pro), and its gets more expensive. Also, as pointed out by others, you're pretty much limited to a single frequency, or group of frequencies within a certain range. I also use SDR quite a bit to search for new channels, including DMR and NXDN. But then I enter them into a scanner.
So come on UPMan, how about a little hint Paul. Please with "sugar on top."

Is it true that you cannot direct enter a frequency on the TRX?

That is not true. It clearly states in the user manual how to manually enter and store a frequency without using a computer.

Oh, so is this the new "Corporate policy" now? When did that start? And using a generic excuse of "it is corporate policy...." should not be blindly accepted by current or potential customers as an acceptable answer, but I digress.

Point blank, I can hear NXDN transmissions now pretty good with my TRX-1. I can not hear ANY NXDN with any of my Unidens. I would rather have something that is not completely perfected yet, than nothing at all.

I also would be happy doing NXDN on the Unidens just like the DMR was done. I would be very happy with the addition of NXDN to my 2 996P2's my 1 436HP and my 2 536HP's.

Yea me too I'm ready to purchase the key hell I got $100 I'll give um beats a new radio
Though I did buy a trx1 in the interum while they work it out

Really? I suspect the query/point the OP was making is that the only way you can manually 'tune' to a specific frequency is by adding it into the scanner as a [manually] stored channel. You can't directly enter a frequency in VFO mode (via the keypad, or via a search/pause). The closest you'll get is to run a search and try hit on the frequency, but even then you have to increment up/down with the keypad to reach the right frequency: I can tell you it's pretty tedious as the step size can't be changed. As stated earlier in this thread, I too find it a joke to pay good money for a scanner in 2017 when it doesn't even have the basic features of a scanner I had back in the 1980's - and even then, that was a fraction of the price. The TRX really is only useful for scanning known channels - not searching.

I can not hear ANY NXDN with any of my Unidens. I would rather have something that is not completely perfected yet, than nothing at all.
I 100% agree on this.....I'd rather have a beta with limited functionality to try out: we saw that approach when they released the DMR upgrade, and there have been several beta releases put out there to try and fix existing bugs with the BCDx36HP range.

I would buy the NXDN upgrade for all 4 of my x36 scanners. (1 436, 3 536's) like I did for DMR and ProVoice . I know the x36 scanners still have plenty of future capabilities left in them. I want scanners that can receive all transmissions for when I travel. Would hate to buy a Whistler just to receive NXDN so I will patiently wait for Uniden to add this upgrade for now. Hopefully soon.
