In the electronic world, it all started off with vacuum tubes, than came the transistor, and than came solid state. The future of listening into signals now is SDR. Why pay for a $600 scanner when you can pay $40 for the same or more features than a single unit. Soon there will be a way to use the dongles with your android or iOS to do the scanning. If I get off my butt and would make some applications that would work for them. Time to make the big switch.
(P.S. I own a BB10 so i don't care about either operating system.)

There already is a way to use a dongle with android it is called SDR touch

Well it looks like to me the only ones hurting in this deal is UNIDEN, consumers are holding onto their money but it seems Whistler is making a lot of money on people that are not waiting for this long overdue decision, I have several UNIDEN scanners, but looking at the recalls on the flagship scanners and no word not even a peep when something is going to happen, UNIDEN sales might be on a downward trend. I love the UNIDEN 536HP, but I'm not going to wait forever....

I believe when you read all these posts on radio reference about flagship scanners with recalls and people like me that have several Uniden scanners that have never had to send one back to the factory for any type of service that makes people frustrated, but now if you work for the company, you can share with us sales figures and trends. Uniden makes a product for consumers and when they fail to offer any type of suggestion of how close that might be makes me nervous, And like I said I have several Uniden scanners.\

At least you guys are being support by Uniden in the states more than us in Australia on x36 models.

You had the capability to pay for and download updates for DMR and ProVoice in Jun/Jul 2016.
It is now March 2017 and we are still waiting and have no idea if ever it will be offered for our x36PT models.

If anyone is frustrated, it’s us in Australia being left in the dark with Uniden here.

TRX models are far more appealing than any x36PT models; and TRX prices importing from the states would be a better buy when considering when/if Uniden Australia ever offer paid upgrades for our local model.

I feel for you not having NXDN, but we don’t even have DMR capability that is widely used here.

Unless UPMan is tired of working for Uniden, he's going to do what his bosses direct him to do. Uniden also has a fiduciary responsibility to it's stock holders, and so has to be very careful in how and when it releases news.

BTW, Uniden as a corporation has been performing well above it's guidance, so it's in good shape.

Keep in mind that Uniden Holdings has a total of 17 subsidiary corporations, including a real estate division. Japanese companies in general have wide holdings, which is something that American companies have started doing in recent decades.

Mitsubishi makes cars, planes, ships, cans tuna fish (Three Diamonds), and so on. They don't make scanners, at least I've never heard of them doing that.

Actually it started with a small block of galena and a whisker of wire for fun I built one and the GI foxhole radio which is a wired old razor blade & bit of pencil lead. It was a project in one the "popular" magazines (Science, Mechanix, Mechanics, Electronics) in the mid-sixties,
