Unless it is some new feature, I am not aware of NXDN conventional radios supporting Talk Groups. It seems to make no sense to have TGs on a radio if multiple groups are sharing the frequency when they would normally just each have their own RAN.

DMR can support TGs since it is TDMA so 2 TGs could be simultaneously active. NXDN48 can only support a single user at a time.

It could be a software glitch in the search function on that scanner. There is no way to program a TG in conventional NXDN on that scanner and none of the Kenwood NX radios I am aware of support programming a TG on a conventional channel.

The search function is probably looking for trunked signals and there are differences in the digital signal format between NXDN conventional and trunked.

I
Absolutely can have TGs on conventional channels. I have TGs programed on my NX5800 on conventional channels.
OK apparently it is a new feature in NXDN. In any event, the RRDB does not support it and most scanners apparently don't.
I see the screen shot shows what appears to be "NX48WX" vs the normal "NX48" ?? I can't find any description of what that means.
What is the purpose of TGs on NX 48?

Its been a feature for several years with my NX-5200 and NX-5300.
Different users sharing the same repeater just like the old days of community repeaters with controllers that had different tones for different users.

It apparently is new with the NX-5xxx series since older NX radios have no provision for a TG on a conventional channel. I never encountered a NXDN community repeater but different RANs for each user was the solution for NXDN simplex.

Just more evolving technology! I do like NXDN conventional over DMR conventional because it was a little more simple but I guess we all have to adapt!

It was working pre firmware version 5
Yes, it was appaently a standard feature with the introduction of the multi-mode NX-5xxx series radios that I am not familliar with. In looking at the specs, I see that Group Call is a feature that the use of TGs would support on conventional.

My point was the older generation NX radios, which seem to be prevalent in this area, do not support it and I have never encountered a TG on a conventional NX system. It definitely is not supported on the NX-200/700 radios that I maintain.
