Hi everyone. I am having a problem with my CDM1550 That I purchased. Seems I programed what I needed into the radio but I'm not getting anything in return. The unit was bought from ebay and I think the settings are all messed up. Does anyone have a saved program that I could use from NYPD to program into the scanner with the 1550 settings??

Thanks.

Not sure if anyone understands...what i'm asking for is a the saved program that you load onto your motorola unit after making all the zones and so forth.

From the NYPD? They won't send out anything to program a radio. :) The CDM1550 is not a scanner but a 128 memory Motorola mobile rig. Make sure that you have a radio with the right freq range (NYPD is 470-488 Mhz). Are you sure it's not set for LTR trunking as opposed to conventional channels?

The NYPD freqs along with the PL tone that their repeater transmits (no input PL tones for obvious reasons) can be found here NYPD, FDNY & EMS SYSTEMS

Compare the list with what you have programmed into your radio and let us know what the exact problem is that you are getting.

Right...When I program the radio I save the file in case the radio gets shorted or I have to re-install the zones is what i meant. I will give it a try again and the site you referred is where I originally got the NYPD scan info. Hmmm

Another hacker looking for problems. A scanner would have done the trick. All of a sudden a guy has a radio, software which he "licensed" from Motorola, a programming cable, rib?

If you're authorized I'm sure the city radio shop will help you out.

Not sure if the agency frowns upon it...this is a hobby I do on my own time with my own equipment.

So you're an auxiliary. Get a scanner, the radio will only get you into trouble.

Not really, if he has the radio programmed to RX only, he shouldn't have a problem. I know loads of Auxiliaries who have personal radios. some are hams some aren't. but as long as its rx only. I choose a transiver over a scanner any day. Since theres alot of RF in NYC a scanner won't pick up everything. But a Transiver would pick up anything loud and clear. not static and broking up like a scanner.
