These concerns about radio towers never cease to amaze me. These people live in a city with a huge crime & homicide rate and a massive amount of auto pollution, but some how they are afraid a harmless radio tower is going to hurt them.

Don't worry-she'd be the first one to lawer up when she couldn't get a cop out to her home because of unreliable comms too. Whatever has to do with the "establishment" and its coffers, you'll always see someone like her front and center with the threats:mad:

Oakland's 'new' towers...

This is so typical of all government agencies.
Whatever they want, they get, no vote on anything from the public, which actually OWNS all they use.
Try building your own tower at 100' and see how fast YOU are fined and probably jailed for not getting 'permission' to put up a tower on YOUR property...ABSURD!

They also mentioned it was 'streamlined' processes for public safety(oh sure, great excuse), but what it really amounts to is this:

NO fees, NO real environmental impact study, NO permission from the residents, and NO possible way to say NO to anything a government agency wants, when it wants it!

All too often, people simply allow all government to run over us, trample us into the ground and use THREATS and INTIMIDATION, as well as 'FINES'(paid by YOU, of course).

STOP getting stepped on people!
STOP the ABUSE of YOUR rights and YOUR money!

DEMAND YOU get just as much say as ANY agency, regardless of which one it may be!

The first lines in the declaration of independence read: WE THE PEOPLE, it does NOT read, I the government folks!

Government GOVERNS with CONSENT of the governed, it does NOT give right or title to ANY agency, or branch.

This is also in line with the FCC and those that assume the government owns the spectrum, it does NOT, it IS 'owned' by WE THE PEOPLE first and foremost!

he FCC does NOT even have the power to legally fine anybody as it does NOT have law enforcement authority or power.
The FCC can NOT make you pay any fines, they are a RULE MAKING agency ONLY, and have NO authority or power to regulate/enforce or deny OUR access to the RF spectrum if we so choose.

Any senator that wants yet ANOTHER band taken away to give to 'public safety' (a real joke on the'safety' side of this) is to add not only the 4.9 gHz band, but the ENTIRE 70 CM band as a FREEBIE to agencies that do NOT know how to use what they already have.

There are allocated areas of spectrum set aside for LTE networks across the nation, and the 70 CM ham band will NOT be anoother free addition to their already over-abused and under- served population of voting taxpaying citizens.

We have the RIGHT to make use of this spectrum just as much, if not more than those WE pay to do the work WE require of them.

They chose their careers, it is NOT up to us to yet again, support their wants with that which we are using heavily, and continuously as well...in fact, WE WERE HERE FIRST...GO AWAY and LAY DOWN BY YOUR WATERBOWLS!

DON'T TREAD ON US, OR ELSE!!!

We too, have a need for this slice of spectrum, and we have spent millions on the infrastructure that has been in place long before the P25 steering committee knew it even existed, and WE USED IT to its best advantage, and continue to make DARN GOOD USE OF IT TODAY!

If spme two bit senators want to take it away, then shell out every penny we have spent to build the networks, the uplink stations, the satellites, the base radios and ALL radios we operate in the 70 CM band, in LL states...THEN, we'll talk!!

Not until WE are pleased with the results, shall we budge, and WE do NOT have to!

This country is OUR PROPERTY, and the government is only VISITING!

Governments MUST fear its people!
People must NEVER fear their governments!
Something is very WRONG with this government!

Let me know how that goes for you when the FCC gives you a fine, and you tell them they dont have the authority to do it.

I love how she says shes afraid of radioactivity. Hmmmmm, Last time I checked our radios didnt produce that kind of radiation. Besides, she will pick up more radiation from driving by an am (or fm for that matter) station in one pass than she probably will ever get from that tower.

Unless you have been to a tower site, especially a heavily loaded tower site...don't dismiss the RF exposure danger.

I know of two two-way radio techs who both came down to brain cancer. Never smoked, drank excessivly, etc.

There is also a local tower site that has so much RF coming out of it, that at the PUBLIC road next to it, you can feel a tingling feeling in your head. Only think on that tower is cell equipment.

There is a reason these days for all those warning signs.

I am not taking a stand either way on Oaklands issue, but to completely dismiss any concern is foolish. Leaky RF cables, stray RF can do a lot of harm physically and electrically.
