Stafford and Barnegat are dispatched by Ocean County and they operate on the county fire ops.

-Manchester Twp operates on their own UHF TRS. Fire/EMS are open. PD encrypted.
-Lakewood FD and EMS are on separate P25 conventional frequencies. PD Encrypted.
-Toms River all emergency services are encrypted on their own TRS
-Brick Fire and EMS are on separate conventional frequencies. Some are P25.
-Point Pleasant and Pt Pleasant Beach are on their own conventional frequencies.
-There is still some activity on Ocean County EMS 1 VHF.
-Everybody else is on the Ocean County TRS.

Ocean County is a mess because there are so many different systems. Not everybody is on the county system, some are on their own still, some are in small groups with other departments. Then you can’t forget there’s some encryption mixed in there for certain towns.

That's pretty much all of NJ, everyone does their own thing. A town in the North, one FD district is on the town TRS and the other district is on the county TRS. Crazy

Fair point. I don’t pay much attention to anything other than Somerset and Ocean counties. I’m born and raised Somerset County lived in Ocean County for a while. I love Somerset County's system, organized and they are always upgrading.

I may have been a little closed minded with my statement, I mainly monitor Burlington, Camden and Gloucester Counties which have nearly all their eggs in one basket on their respective P25 systems. I spend a lot of time in Ocean County during the summer and I'm still figuring things out. A lot of towns doing their own thing in Ocean County.

Same thing here in Hudson County. Every town has its own trunked system or they are conventional, except Hoboken PD is on NJICS with its old analog 800mhz as backup (fire is conventional FM), etc. It's the smallest county in the State by far.

I doubt this is unique to NJ or many other states, though.

Small home rule stuff has a lot to do with the complexity of state, county, and municipal funding in NJ. NJ is definitely not the example of efficiency and I think we all know that. Unfortunately...short of drastic political changes in the state...shared services improvements are slow at best.
