Wondering if anyone in South Jersey is hearing a slow beeping noise on there scanner when anyone is tx. Can not hear it on my portable. It has been going on sporadic for the past month or so. I hear it across Vhf and Uhf bands. Sounds as if its 3 different tones going from low to high pitch very slow.

Do you hear it in different places, like outside your home or office? it could be interference from wifi? I get interference from wifi in my home as well as the washing machine motor.

I hear it throughout Cape May and Middle twp. with an exterior antenna. Havent really been out and about with a scanner. It is at a low volume in the background.

Will have to record it tonight. But it does not sound like flex or any other paging or digital signal. It basically sounds like almost some type of beacon.

Yesterday On 143.300 I heard what sounded like the game "Simon" (from the 80s) Was being played slowly. Scanned today but nothing. I never heard it before and it was heard far into 142 and 144 . It was either really close to me or really Strong!!

I think Jimepage heard what I was hearing. It was 3 different "tones" one at a time, very slow. I do not hear it today. Will try to catch a recording of it.

Okay I think I am now hearing the tones you are speaking about here.

Particularly on AM air band frequencies it is now noticeable. If I leave the scanner on a unused freq - I can hear the tones almost continuously.

All of the scanners (Unidens) are doing the same thing. I turned on the ICOM R-8500 and tried several of the same frequencies and not a sound was heard.

Almost sounds like router interference but not sure. Sequence appears to be a single tone and then a series of three tone usually in a pattern of low high low.

Yes, I am hearing it now also, not only at home but mobile also. Wish we can figure this out. I can hear it on Uniden and Radioshack scanners. Low, high, higher, Low.......

Have located the frequency of the strongest AM signal for the four tone sequence that keeps repeating.

138.300 AM (give of take a few Khz either way). Nearly a +20db on the Icom 8500 with the highest tone.

I unplugged everything modem or router related and the tones are still there.

I'm located quite a ways from you guys and I've been hearing something like that on 138.325 +/-, first noticed it on 5/1. In SDRSharp it shows up as a really wide signal. Usually four tones, once in a while 3 or 5. Here's a link to a post I made then - http://forums.radioreference.com/general-scanning-discussion/312644-unknown-signal-138-325-a.html

I attached a screenshot of what SDRSharp is showing and here's a link to an audio file I recorded while I was typing this post - Zippyshare.com - 12-46-36 Unknown 138.325 MHz.wav

I have it here too, Have always thought it was something in the house bleeding over. Really faint but it sounds pretty much like the recording from Bm82557.

-20db in Hunterdon County on a 2-meter vertical on the roof. There appears to be an FM component to the signal when observed in AM mode. Viewing (in SDR #) in WFM gives the most stable view and purest tones. I can't measure the audio tones but it sounds as if the first two are pretty much of a consistent pitch while tones three and four are variable.

Wouldn't take a whole lot to jam that if it's really a missile seeker!
