i have a question (UPMAN or Lindsay). when using CTCSS/DCS on the 246... does it "overwrite" the system/agency name? ill give you an example.

on the pro 96... the channel name is displayed on the 3rd line (this would be the 2nd line on the 246). the bank name would be displayed on the 4th line (this would be the system/agency name on the first line). however, when i have a CT/DC tone set to a channel, the 4th line displays the CT/DC tone, not the bank name. just wondering how the 246 deals with displaying the CT/DC tones. thanks.

No, that's a Pro-96 bug. The 246 doesn't show you any of that.

I wouldn't call it a "bug", I considered it more a "limitation", since it would be nice to have the option to show the tone or the bank name when using the tones.

If Microsoft was involved, they'll call it a "feature"

Hello,

The only time the BC246T shows frequency and tone is in Close Call Mode, Scan and Close Call Mode, or in Search Mode with CTCSS/DCS Rapid Decode option. If you Alpha Tag a frequency, and set CTCSS/DCS Mode to Search, the Alpha Tag and Tone appear while in scanning mode. Once you set the PL/DCS, only the Alpha Tag appears or frequency if you don't alpha tag it. The System Name and Group Name will alternate on the top line of display.

Every place I've seen has it listed at $229. Amazon's probably your best bet, as they won't charge you for shipping.

There's a place in Washington state called The Quack Shack (509) 246-1725 that has them advertised for $209.99

It was a few extra bucks, but I pre-Ordered from the Forum Sponsor, Scanner Master. Figured it was an easy way to say thanks.

I did the same thing. Scanner Master
While some are driven to squeeze every last penny out of a deal, you should stop and think about who your money supports and buy from places that you want to keep contributing to the hobby.

Scanner Master, Scanners Unlimited, Grove, Lentini are all places that have been around and contributed to the advancement of the hobby. I'm sure there are others, but those are the ones that come to mind. If you can't spare a few extra dollars, that is fine, but don't complain when these places go under, or if they are forced pull their representation from forums like these. By all means, support your local dealers too!

i purchased a antena from them and it broke 2 months later. they wouldn't accept the return claiming the warranty expired. lucky the antenex company is here in illinois and they replaced the antena no questions asked. i will never purchase anything from them. well just sharing my bad experience with them.

2 months is too long for a return just about anywhere...
