lock outs

when I am scanning a system I built in ARC246 software I want to lock out some groups that I don't want to hear. But when I want the groups turned back on in a particular system I have a hell ot a time doing it. I did it once after five minutes of messing with it but could not do it a second time. It is easy to turn on and off a system. But I cannot do a group back on. Anyone who can suggenst something to me? Thanx.

You have to use the AC power supply so the batteries won't die on you, if they did your scanner would have a messed up firmware (it may not have any at all). Then people would complain to Uniden whining, so they specify AC adapter for your own good.

Systems are turned on and off with the number keys.
Groups are turned on and off using the FUNC + number key described on page 40 of the manual.

When preparing the 246T for the attempt to upload the 1.42 update, how many keys do you have to hold down while turning the 246T on? The Uniden site was of no help.

When you run the file it will walk you through it.

Hope so. Uniden site was sure no help on the ins & outs of what to be aware of when preparing to upload the update. :)

That's because you don't need to be aware of anything ahead of time - just follow the prompts.

Not to be mean, but CZ, do you know how to read? This was repeated about 3 times. The program will tell you what to do. Now this is the 4th time. Do you understand now?

ARRRRGGGHH!!!!

Ran the setup program to upload the 1.42 update, and during the setup the program asked in effect if I wanted to use the default folder.

I told program to do so, and finished the setup .... NOW, I can't locate the folder the program was supposed to have loaded it in!

Should have written name down I guess, but thought the program put a icon on the desktop. Looked at every folder I can find with Uniden in title, but found nothing :(

So, did the program either A) Not load the program even though it said it did, OR B: put it in the wrong folder and the 1.42 program is now intermixed with some other program

Actually i was watching but it only gave PART of a name for the default. C:\ Uniden\ and rest was invisible, so just went ahead & ran it the default way rather than use different folder.

Try your DOCS folder. (DOCS/MY DOCCUMENTS/ETC)

My bc246t arrived today. I programmed a buch of stuff into it...until I was getting a headache. I don't have the software yet. Everything works great, except an EDACS system I put in.

I don't know if the system is Wide, Narrow, or SCAT. I have all the freqs input in the correct LCN order. This is a new system that is not really fired up yet, but has testing going on almost 24-7. My Pro-95 trunked it like a champ, but with the 246 I can only catch a transmittion when manually spinning through the freqs.

Any ideas?

Welllll .... I ran the setup program again today (Friday) and BC246TVUP_V1_42 appeared in the Windows 98SE "Programs" Uniden tab -- but I'm pretty sure that's first time it did. I hooked up the 246T.
V1.42 loaded without any problems (at least none of the screens indicated problems).

Been listening to it last hour or so, and far as I can tell after a short listening period, though I can hear aircraft as before, there appear's to be no improvement in Tower reception. I'm about 5 miles from the Tower, and at the edge of the glidepath.
Have, I think, 2 or 3 Duckie's from 2 Meter handhelds around to experiment with over the weekend, so will see what happens.

QUESTION:

I've used the Demo UASD program 3 times now, and on 2 occasions when I removed the cable from the computer, the Mouse quit working ("There is no Mouse attached....") & I have to turn the comp. off & on a couple times to convince Windows there is a Mouse.

Has anyone else had this happen ? Just curious.

Nope, when I had the UASD Demo it didn't.

Ok, I was kinda curious if it had showed up anywhere else. Hard drive failed back in September '04 -- lost everything on it :( When the new drive was installed the Tech said he updated a number of files ("video, audio, and a few others") -- some of which dated back to 1999.
Theory is probably wrong, but wonder if the updated files might be causing it occasionally? Not a serious problem, just a bit annoying.

NOTICED that on Aircraft band when I turn squelch off then turn control back, the squelch kicks in with the pointer at about 11 o'clock, and on non-air bands at about 9:30.

Regarding the occasional problem with 98SE telling me that "No Mouse is Attached" after using UASD (Demo ware), I think I may've found a cure for it.

I turned the AntiVirus, & ZoneAlarm programs off, then went into W98SE's "Close Program" function & turned everything off except for the UASD prog., Systray, & Explorer.

Last 2 times I've uploaded after doing so, the "No Mouse" problem didn't occur.
