You must be pretty close to where Graeme and I used to live. I was at 121 Hunter St, top floor facing the lake, corner of Bay St.

Unable at the time to hear the Hamilton Simcoe frequency at the time but Toronto, Peel, no problem for their 800 Mgh systems and fleetnet.

I think WZ1 lived in one of the lower cities tallest condos at the time, all this scanner 'talent' and I did not meet up and become friends with Graeme or WZ1 until we all moved.

I am just a stones throw away from there at Bay & Duke, also facing towards the lake. I can get the Halton, Peel and Toronto trunks without any problems and sometimes even the Durham trunk.

Tower Work for DMR reception

Nice! How high? A yagi on a rotor up there would be awesome...

Hi Forts,

Well I took advantage of the warm weather and did some tower work.
- replaced the coax to my 2 metre antenna with new RG 213
- installed a 1/4 wave 450 ground plane and LMR 400 coax
- took down the 2.5 dish
- replaced the dish antenna with a TV UHF corner reflector yagi turned vertically with LMR 400

The TV UHF ant works great, I heard about using old TV antennas this way and always wanted to give it a try.
The 450 ground plane also seems to work very well. Everything is above the tree line.

What a difference on UHF and 800. I have a huge list of DMR and NXDN signals now.
Plus I can rotate the TV antenna

I would like to hook up with other listeners in the Ottawa area to compare notes.

Hello,

You are mixing the GOTRBO DMR Network with the OnQue NXDN network. Two separate systems that just happen to use the same id number.

two separate systems with the same ID

Thanks everyone for the info.

I did not realize there were two separate systems with the same ID

Now that I have much improved receive for 450 I will have to be very careful about this.

I noticed Norfolk Disposal on the Multi-County Groups. Has this been confirmed? I know they are currently using Oxford Communications LTR in Norfolk County. Maybe they are using a different system outside of Norfolk County?

I logged in my logs and I have logged their talkgroup on the Hamilton site.
