Good news.... But I could never understand how they brought the system up without this....

Especially when an agency has a building full of EMTs and refuses to answer a 2nd call.

Yeah, I heard that one too. While you can hear his frustration, putting it out over the air like that makes him just as unprofessional as the ones that sat around.

Definitely cringe-worthy.

‘8000: thank you for the information and thank you for your suggestion. The ball is now in the stadium; it has to make it to the field before it can start rolling, but it least it’s in stadium.

So, Fire Paging is no longer on CORNet?
No, it is not.

It was up for RX and testing purposes only, wasn't meant for station alerting or activating pagers due to falsing concerns.

I believe it was pulled so that people wouldn't try and rely on it after a post on FB started making its rounds.

Gosh, for a guy who is always so outspoken about this system, one would think he would've noticed that the talkgroup went silent over two weeks ago?!?

Perhaps if someone wasn't so eager to capitalize on the paging talkgroup, instead of understanding the issues of digital paging and reaching out to the PTB, the talkgroup would probably still be on the air. 🤷‍♂️

Or perhaps all is not lost just yet. ;)

I was away on vacation and a little out of the loop for a while. By the time I found out about the fire paging TG and was able to get it programmed into my G4, it was no longer on the air. When they started testing the TG, I was under the wrong impression that the TG was here to stay, not just for testing purposes.

Yes, there were a few people who got overexcited and started talking on FaceBook about programming G4/G5 pagers to receive fire pages etc. After the info spread around, in a very rapid fashion, a phone call was made to one of the vendors by someone who works for the County and it was explained that the current tone set up for fire paging in Orange County will not work with the Unication pagers and no attempts should be made to try to program and use Unication pagers for fire paging. Shortly after that, the TG went silent.

Personally, I think that no harm would have been done by leaving the TG active. I carry my G4 99% of the time when I leave the house and I do not carry a VHF radio or pager, so I miss the fire paging for the calls going on in my area and since the call type and location is no longer given on the response TG, I miss what is going on around me.. Hopefully, they will re-activate the paging TG again in the near future.

Please excuse my lack of knowledge, but what's the issue with p25 paging? is it Orange County specific or is there an issue with TDMA and 2-tone paging?
