Does anyone have a list of P25 Pager tone codes for Orange County NY EMS & Fire?

The fire tone outs are in the wiki for Orange County. However, when it comes to decoding the tones over P25 Trunked you'll have look at the table and pick which table which your tone set falls within. You will get some false decodes if there are any tone sets that are close together.

In my area, the audio quality for tone outs is horrible. They sound tremendously overdriven. Also, using FTO on a trunked system is not possible unless paging is always done over a particular frequency (not talkgroup).

Idk bro...

My unication G5 is able to do FTO on a trunked system and so is my buddies APX6000 so I'm pretty sure you don't know what you're talking about my guy...

Hello, I'm curious as to what your thoughts are on why this can't be done over a talkgroup? I'm doing it in two different County's over two different ASTRO 25 TRS. The subscribers are a diverse bunch of HT's, mobiles, as well as Unication Pagers. Please elaborate, and thanks!

I never presume that anyone is using professional grade equipment. FTO does not work over trunking with any Uniden scanner that has the feature.

Seems the Orange County wiki for fire tone outs needs a bit of updating as even many EMS agencies have additional tones now then when that wiki was created. For instance Montgomery EMS now has an all call, sounds like Newburgh also has two new set of tones.

But... I do have a question that has been inking me for a while to find out the reason or what it is used for. But Cornwall FD use to have 3 set of tones which the Pager and then the other two sets was for Cornwall and Mountainville sirens to be set off but now here 2 set of tones and then a long tone. Anyone know what it is used for or the purpose? The only long tones that have been used in OC was the battalion tones.

If you listen to 154.205 you can hear they are two separate tones. On the P25 talkgroup they are close enough that it sounds like a long tone.

To add to what @cackis explained, the tones have a much wider decode range when run through the AMBE+2 vocoder for P25. This means that some of the analog tones wind up overlapping/conflicting when they are averaged out over P25. There are actually quite a few tone sets in Orange that conflict over the paging talkgroups, both fire and EMS.

There can be two types of conflicts:

a) Where otherwise distinct analog tone pairs average out to conflicting digital tones, which means that multiple tone sets can wind up the same over digital. One actual example would be 36-4 and Woodbury Chief tones wind up the same over P25. I believe 36-14, 36-15, and Cornwall QC 1 also conflict, unless those have been changed recently. There are quite a few of these types of conflicts.

b) Where distinct analog A and B tones are so close together, they wind up averaging out to the same tone over P25. The aforementioned Cornwall QC 2 is one example, another is 36-13's tones wind up the same, so both will sound like a long single tone. The only true long tones in the county are the Battalion All Calls.

I am trying to set up Silver Lake fire in my G4. (paging) It works fine with Circleville but not Silver Lake. I tripled checked the tones I use via the wiki info. Anyone have suggestions?

Hi. I found the codes to be different from what's listed on Wiki. For Silver Lake FD you want to use 54, 64 for the 2 tone

Are there any others you noticed? Maybe submit them to Radio reference data base.
Tones do not belong in the database. Stuff like that belongs in the wiki, which any user can edit (do not submit wiki stuff to the database).
