The OCTA has switched over to one of the "Open Sky" systems a while back. Apparantly it hasn't been working out too well. I guess thats what happens when you buy a system that hardly anyone else uses.

It is interesting that they mention in the ariticle that supervisors and Sheriff's deputies have switched off the system to improve safety. I had noticed that they suddenly showed up on the conventional repeater 856.2125 (PL 103.5) a little while back after hearing several days of test counts there.

What is it with OC and radio systems, anyway?

Are they still communicating on the conventional? I guess if they're using PL it must be analog?

I haven't checked it for a while, but yes it was analog. I only found it because it was one of the old analog fire system freqs that didn't make it into the new system.
