P25 channel ID question...

Being a new RR Premium member and new to trunking systems, I was just curious as to what the P25 channel ID table is used for in the RR database?

After reading that link and delving further, the first answer would be the appropriate answer.
The SDS100 automatically scans for the band plan from the active control channel from what I have been able to find out via google.

Correct.

In modern radios such as the SDS100 or SDS200, or the Home Patrol radios, automatically obtain the system band plan from the active control channel and as a user you no longer need to know anything about it.

In earlier radios, however, this was information the user needed to manually program in order for trunk tracking to work and find the voice channels.
