P25 Digital Systems

Hello,

Debating between a HomePatrol or the GRE PSR 800.

Read that the Mass State Police will be transitioning to a new P25 digital system in the (near) future.

Would both of these units pick up this mode ?

Are there any "near-future" modes that one will pick up, and other would not ?

Yes, both of those will pick up Phase1 P25 systems.

The 800 will decode X2-TDMA (A version/flavor of Phase2) which the HP will not.

I'll leave it to others more familiar with Mass. to offer suggestions which one you should buy though.
