My local public safety system (East Bay Regional Communications System) will be moving from phase 1 to phase 2 within the year. The new radios are hitting the streets now. I'm ready for them on my 996P2 and TRX-1. My question is will there be new frequencies to program in? From the scanner listener point of will this be seamless or will I need to program new sites? What typically is required to do when a system is upgraded to phase 2. Thanks in advance.

Unless they add tower sites or do simulcast you should be OK

It is hard to say at this point. It all depends on the age & current equipment in-place and the layout of the system. Also depends on the money factor. Some systems they can migrate the current towers & frequencies over without an issue. Some systems end up getting a whole new slew of frequencies. There's no way to say fore sure in advance that there will be the same frequencies used cuz it will all be up to the radio system's Administrator.
