@btt Just an FYI, tried to update to 1423 and lost connection to it again, seeing if I can get someone to reset it so I can nuke it. Seems to happen after its been running for a few weeks,. This time 2 weeks.
I think you will probably want to update to 08-28_1712 for the improvements to BTConfig-based audio output.

I am running MCU Version "V" what clock speed should should I have it set to in the advanced tab?
It really shouldn't make a difference which speed is selected with the 'V' version. The 'V' part is guaranteed to operate up to 480 MHz. The 'Y' version part is only guaranteed to operate up to 400 MHz. This is why the effort was made to make sure that everything worked fine at the slower clock rate of 400 MHz. Running it faster shouldn't make a difference now, but the option to change it is still there.

Hi. My mistype That is the version I was updating to. A friend helped. Cleared mem again and reloaded. May be my imagination but this versions seems to give choppy audio. I can’t listen first hand. But noticing gaps in conversations.

I've only heard back from a single Windows 10 user regarding the audio changes (with very positive feedback). It is definitely working better on Linux and Mac based on my testing. Would like to hear from others running Windows regarding the audio in version 08-28_1712.

The audio does sound better. I can attest to that. I have to listen some to see if it cuts out.
if you want to hear first hand You can listen here:

Been running 2 days both P1 and P2 audio are definitely clearer. I haven't noticed the chop. Might have been the 150ms TG delay switched to another TG. But as it is it's top notch!!! :)

The audio on the AEP TDMA CC site that I have been monitoring has definitely improved. I had been playing back the audio to understand what was being said. Today I could hear the dispatches much clearer. Unfortunately there are very few calls during the day.

The recent audio improvements are the result of porting over some audio-related changes from the P25RX-II firmware / BTCFG-II software to the P25RX/BTConfig. Not even released yet, and existing customers are benefiting from it!

Havent been as active on here lately, but I have been following all the developments. If version 2 is as improved as you say it is, i'd love to get on the waiting list for it since i like my original V version p25rx so much! As i've said before it works great on my 2 local phase 2 systems, so i'd love to get my hands on another so I can dedicate 1 to each.

Thanks for the latest test version Todd. Testing 08-31:1618 - definitely improved audio. Nice changes. What should we watch for in the audio buffer graph at the bottom of the Signal Insights tab? Should it be mostly full, never full, etc.?

The logic for starting to play back what is in the BTConfig audio buffer is when the buffer is half full or if the buffer is partially full and it receives a flush audio command from the P25RX. The P25RX sends the flush audio command when its buffer is emptied. Many times the indicator holds around 3/4 full during playback. What you don't want to see is the buffer becoming empty in the middle of a conversation (unless there is a pause). That is a buffer underflow. That doesn't sound good when the buffer becomes empty in the middle of playback. I think there is still a rare case where this can happen. Once of the main reasons the audio sounds better in the java application is that draining and stopping the audio buffer is now handled by a separate thread from the main one that collects the audio over USB.

Are any of the audio improvements also seen in line out or bluetooth? I have not had any audio issues with lineout.
I rarely use the USB audio.

Yes, there have been audio improvements in the past few test releases that affect line-out and Bluetooth. Some day I will quit messing with all the audio stuff! I think it is pretty close now.

Just installed 1618 during the time the remnants of Hurricane Ida hit Chester County PA. Chester County Emergency Services Radio has 3 sites and with this storm, tornado warnings, flash floods the 3 sites were nonstop with radio traffic. The P25RX worked unbelievable, awesome audio and never missed a transmission. The priority selections work flawlessly. Imagine 2.5 hours of absolute nonstop traffic without an issue. Todd, my hat is off to you for producing a great product!!

Yeah dude Todd.. at my office, a place where the signal is all over the place the P25rx is really astounding. Blows away the 325p2, not even a contest and even the G4. Well done.

Thanks, Todd. Mine is up at the 80% mark most of the time, never faltering over two days of observations totaling perhaps a few hours. Audio quality is outstanding - not just unbroken and free of artifacts, but fluid and natural sounding in a way P25 seldom is using the default 15.6KHz filter. Well done.

I also notice a new line item in the TG log (or maybe I never noticed it) named NCo_Off and a value (always 0.0 on my end). I'm assuming it's a report of an "off"set, but what is the NCO?

Thanks.
