Pager programming

That would be entirely up to you. Westmoreland's EMS is also dispatched on VHF 155.1600 you would be able to monitor that along with Fire. I don't know it you're planning on getting into the EMS side but it is something to think about

Now, youre saying that westmorelands ems is dispatcher on 155.1600 and the fire is dispatched on 154.0400 . When i listen to pagers at my station, both ems and fire tones come over their pagers without having to change a channel. Can i have both frequencies programmed on my pager at the same time with a single channel pager? And how do i do this? All i wanna know, is how i get my pager set up to hear both fire and ems tones/dispatch

their pager must be scanning both channels. ems is one channel and fire is seperate.

Yeah. I'd say to get a Minitor VI and set it up to scan both channels with those tones, and you should be fine. You won't be able to do this with a single-frequency pager.

A channel is pretty much the same thing as a frequency, at least for this discussion. Your single channel pager can not receive two different frequencies or channels.

As suggested, you need to get a multi-channel pager to scan two different channels.

If it gets down to a two channel VHF Min V (SV or NSV) or a five channel Min VI, I was going to suggest (or do it) for creating a data file and emailing to the OP to write to the pager, but it is premature until it is confirmed what model Pager the OP has and if he has the programming software and interface.

Adam,

Westmoreland County dispatches on VHF 154.0400, with that said you can find a Motorola Minitor at very reasonable prices on Ebay. As for programming ask the seller if they can program it or your local radio shop should be able to handle that, you may find someone here on the forums willing to help out

Okay. The last question that i have is probably extremely dumb, but if i put in the frequency that westmoreland county dispatches on, i will get all the tones and dispatch automatically correct? And then i just have to program the set of tones that i want to be alerted on, right?

So basically, all of the programming videos that im watching, people are programming the frequency and then putting in 10+ sets of tones and they have alerting options next to them. If i put the frequency for my county's paging, ill hear all the tones and dispatch still, correct? And i only have to put in my departments tones to be alerted on, right?

If you have the pager in "open / monitor" mode you will hear everything on the paging frequency. If you have the pager set to "closed or alert" mode you will hear nothing until the appropriate tone is received and the receiver opens.

I went back through this thread I don't see where its mention as to the make and model of your pager. What did you end up buying ??
