What are we talking about here ? My Pro-197 has gone stone silent in Kershaw County. What has been changed ? Can the Pro 197 be programmed to follow ?

All the talk groups are now P25 phase 1.

Reprogram your radio to receive P25. Use wildcards to get everything and as the talk groups become more clear you can revert to entering the ones you want to keep. The same frequencies and control channels are used, enter all the frequencies that's listed in the RR database because they will be used.

Probably, as with Aiken, there will be three times the talk groups with P25 than analog. It seems as if the janitors have their own talk group. :D

Are these files not available on the downloadable webservice ? If not, will they be ? I'm seeing nothing but Motorola 800 .

As mentioned, Kershaw County has converted from the Palmetto 800 system to the Palmetto P25 system along with all other agencies in the Midlands area.

As mentioned, you'll need to change the system type of your TSYS object from MOT 800/900 to P25 AUTO in order to properly follow the system.

All talkgroup values have changed also. I have just posted a large number of identified talkgroups for Lexington Co, Richland Co, Kershaw Co and Columbia. You can use the new listings to manually update your talkgroup values.

The updated data is available now on the main database page for Palmetto P25. I'm not sure how soon the updated PDF downloadable files will be available. Each scanner manufacturer (Uniden and Whistler) have their own schedules for updating the downloadable data for their software. I believe Whistler publishes a new database for the PSR-800 family each Sunday.

Hope that helps.

As mentioned above, I have posted a large number of talkgroups to the Palmetto P25 database this morning. Thanks to all who have contributed this information. If you submitted, please verify that I got everything correct - mistakes are common. Please submit corrections and I'll process those ASAP.

I have some cleanup yet to complete- updating trunked system links on the county pages, removing sites and talkgroup lists from Palmetto 800, etc. I'll try to complete those soon.

If anyone can submit any other site IDs, for Kershaw, Sumter, Fairfield Counties, that would be helpful.

Kudos to everyone providing updated info as SC goes through this much needed upgrade.
We went through it here in NC with VIPER in the not too distant past so we feel your pain and can relate to what everyone is going through.
Kudos also to Brian for keeping everything updated in the database.
Please continue to submit verified accurate info so that Brian and all can continue to improve on the new Site IDs and Talkgroups.
Happy Monitoring!

Thanks to all who have patiently helped me through this. I'm still relying on the 2011 Butel software that came with this Pro 197 when I bought it. It has worked so flawlessly that I have not had to touch it in years and I had forgotten all that I had learned about editing. I think I have enough information now to sit down and muddle through it. I'll give it a shot anyway. Thanks !

Update ! Back scanning. Just have to fine tune now and identify all the TGID's and properly tag them.

I looked on admin.sc.gov and it looks like they're calling the new P25 system "Palmetto 800" just like the old one

Good deal! Please submit any talkgroups you find so they can be added to the database and benefit others.

I plan to rename the system once the old Palmetto 800 system is removed from the database.

Has anyone had any problems with channels talking over each other? I keep getting voice from other channels walking over current channels I'm holding on.

I haven’t ever noticed that issue. It sounds like you might have one channel set as priority or something.

Might be multipath depends on where you are where I'm at I had a little trouble before on analog but was sufficient enough to listen to with this new p25 system signals very critical if signal was fluttering before on analog it's going to start breaking up on digital and that's what it does for me I really don't like it but it is what it is

I'm doing a little updating to my 536 FL for South Carolina. Has the analog system for Lancaster County be turned off? When will York County be converting?

Thanks.

Just noticed that the Palmetto P25 link is gone on the database page. The system is still there, but the link is gone. The old system is now showing green, like it was updated, but it still has the same old info.

I think it's because the new system, according to SC Dept. of Admin, will still be called "Palmetto 800"

I saw that, but for anyone looking for the new system, they won't be able to get to it unless they have a link or have saved it somewhere.

I just accessed both systems with my browser, so I think the link is still there

York county is the “Newport” site I referenced in my previous post. They have switched.
