Wonder what size heliax they plan to use on that first site at 959 feet?
I looked at the FAA site and it does show it to be 959 feet tall.
An ESD owned Tower. goodness.
YEP...guessing that's why the address is Gordon and not the county offices in Palo Pinto!!!Mike S….enough said.![]()
I think that address, in Gordon, must be their officer that handles the radio side of things.YEP...guessing that's why the address is Gordon and not the county offices in Palo Pinto!!!

I went back several months, looking at the meeting minutes for ESD 1, looking for details on exactly what they were doing, and who had the contract. Found several references to radio/communication issues in general, but nothing specific on exactly what they plan. Apparently, they hold their meetings in an office in Graford.
That tower was the original site for KFWR (99.5 The Ranch). They moved to Jacksbro. I've done some work out there since the county acquired the site. Wasn't too long ag that the county invested in installing a complete LED lighting system (fully monitored by LumenServe) as the quotes to paint two more times outweighed the cost of converting to daytime lighting. That tower west of Brazos used to be a FM broadcast station.
I think they either went out of business or moved to another tower and the county bought the tower.
That was actually the second tower for KFWR. The original one is a pile of scrap metal on top of Welcome Mountain in Mineral Wells. It was still standing after they moved off of it until a city pickup caught the guy wires. It wasn't a very stout tower. That tower was the original site for KFWR (99.5 The Ranch).
