Maybe i'm in a dead spot. I get the Nassau system (one channel of the 14 comes in with weak reception) I also get the Suffolk system, and the NYC DOITT system. Is there any action on the NYSPD edacs system?

If you are referring to Metro 21, yes it is alive, but not at all very actuve. You can go hours without hearing a transmission.
If you are not hearing the 2+8 PCT NCPD, join the club. It is quite awful, along with TAC 10

Yeah, I get the nassau edacs system just fine, although the signals are not as robust or easy to listen to as the conventional pd frequencies. I have two antennas (antennae?) one in the attic and once on the roof. I think the one on the roof is not as good as the one in the attic which is a discone. The better antenna (I jumbled the cables without labeling them) runs into a stridesburg 4port multicoupler, One of the multicoupler outputs is used to feed another four port multicoupler, so I have 7 lines off this antenna with almost no loss. I think I have some pictures somewhere. But the coverage is usually pretty good, most stuff comes in pretty clear.

You should get PAPD, it is a stronger system than Nassau EDACS, which, as you stated, does not really come in very clear. You might want to back up your radio and then do a CPU reset to see if that clears up the problem. Something is wrong with the radio setup. And do try a RS 800Mhz duckie antenna, the difference can be amazing.

I myself would take the scanner to the city..
Go into queens or what ever and see if you pick up the system..
If you dont its a radio problem If you do its an antenna/coax problem or your in a dead spot...

I picked up the RS 800 mhz antenna. I had no difference in signal quality than with the roof antenna, or several handheld antennas. it's going back to RS for $19.99.
I'm picking up more of the system tonight.

That makes no sense. Assuming you got the right one (it has a fatter base and slim antenna) it is universally acknowledged as the best 800Mhz antenna on the market. Something is wrong with your programming.
