I say this a lot, but with T-Band also looming, County itself may not even be on the same radio system. We shall see.
County has no plans of changing bands and nothing stops them from continuing to use what they do now.

So from what I'm reading here, the police are happy with their current system and the fire department is happy with the county system. So for whatever reason the town has decided to spend taxpayer money on a fancy new system that nobody really needs. Gotta love it.

And how do you know the County is not leaving UHF? Please tell.

Rocket obviously you have the intel. And I would look to you for the official news on County.

I was just saying if Tband does indeed go through they may have to look at something else.

I’m hoping they don’t. Infrastructure wise, money wise, and even monitoring wise, I hope they stay right where they are.

Morris County has been planning a 700 MHz TDMA system for years, that is no secret. They'd be foolish not to, given the uncertainty over the future of T-Band. I'm sure that they're also tired of getting knocked off the air by TV stations to the south when conditions are just right (or wrong, I suppose) for strong tropo ducting.

Because last year you said THIS and THIS

In 1 year has that much changed that they are suddenly dumping UHF and built 700 sites?

If you know something I don't, enlighten me.

Unless I am way off, AFAIK County isn't moving off UHF in the near future.

Correct. Near is the key. You said "County has no plans of changing bands and nothing stops them from continuing to use what they do now."
No mention of near.

GTR8000 gets the Kewpie doll. Tropo ducting is NOT going to get fixed on TBand.

Back under my rock.

To the South?? And to the North. They too get wacked both ways. Connecticut as well.

Had a chat a week ago with someone who has some insight on this new 700mhz System. PD/FIRE/EMS will all be using this system. Yes FD is happy with what they have right now with County but they will be switching back to their own system. I do not know when the system will go live but possibly by end of this year.

Ah yes. The "everyone around us uses a uniform county system but let's isolate ourselves because we want to"
Makes perfect sense

Thanks for the update

Thanks for the update. If I get back to work(hopefully), I can monitor the system more closely, as I work in Parsippany with my regular job.

Parsippany Fire/EMS/R&R will never leave the county system. While it was only meant to be temporary, they are very happy with it. Parsippany will build out this system and the only people who will use it are the town services. They are wasting taxpayer's money. Everybody is happy with the county.

Yup. This happens in so many threads on this forum. There are many people who think they are "in the know", but the reality is no one really knows until the system actually comes online. Whenever I see posts such as "I know someone" or "they are happy with the system" I automatically take that with the proverbial grain of salt. I have worked for several departments and know a lot of people too, but choose not to post any of those opinions.

I was listening today and it sounds like dispatch transmissions have degraded. Almost sounds like an echo.
