Every law enforcement officer in the state of Michigian should call in sick. EVERY ONE OF THEM (Campus police, city, county, sheriff's, constables, meter maids -EVERYONE!) during the Ohio State Michigian game to protest the Gov's stupidity!!!!

Steve/Gallia

Wow.

Hope after a good night's sleep you realize that's probably a pretty freaking bad idea.

The part that gets me on this is how our lawmakers (senators, represenatives, etc....) can get new furniture for the rarely used home offices every year and not just the cheap stuff. In addiition to the cars, fuel, insurance, benifits, their salaries, etc...... when will they start to make cuts? I fully believe that they need to start reducing their own "budgets" just like the rest of us when we get into tight spots financially. I submitted a letter that you all can too that is on the Michigan Municipal League website (www.mml.org) and it will go to the gov, local reps, and other important people in the offices. Something needs to be done soon though without affecting the rest of us and our lives

It's amazing that our system even allows something like this to happen! If in fact they do shut down on Monday, I think it should generate enough concern to change how government is run. They should madate that a budget be established, and approved far enough in advance to prevent such a quagmire from occurring. If it's not established, there should be very serious consequences, possibly even charges of criminal negligence.

Maybe a good start would be to doc their pay for every day they miss the deadline!

It will be rather interesting to see what happens if any of the MPSCS, or other State radio towers develop technical problems, or service outages while the state is shut down. I hope that no public safety first responders are injured or killed as a result of this fiasco in Lansing.

Why don't we be truthful and tell the people a majority of the state services will be shut down not just the precious State Police. PS The radio techs will still be on the job.

Can I buy alcohol?
Liquor sales are regulated by the state and therefore will stop during a government shutdown. Stores will be able to sell the inventory they have on hand, but will be unable to purchase additional inventory.

This could cause a riot.

This is just an absolute outrage. Graham Craker is partialy shutting down the STATE GOVERNMENT...why? Becuase she is a complete failure. Yes a complete failure. Now she is sticking it to the MSP yet again....I just wonder how much more the state police will put up with her before something like impeachment comes up. I would definatly vote to impeach her!!

Also, not that this is enough, this Dingel character wants to raise the GAS TAX for Michigan. Gas is 2.98 here and they want to put a .50 tax hike on top of that......what the hell are these darn democrats thinking???? oh wait.....never mind I see the problem :D

THANKS GRAHAM CRACKER!!!!!!

Nice to find some common ground with you, Eric.

Wart face has to go. After Enlger, I used to think she'd be easier on the eyes and actually respected her going after gas station price hogs after 9/11. I was out of the country for the vote, but would have voted for her. I did not vote for her this time. She's ruining the state that we live in.

Yes it is nice to see that we indeed can get along if we just try!

You know its not just Jenny that is the problem. Right now the legislature in Lansing is controled by Republicians. I vote republican, but in this case the legislature has been given time to balance the budget....they have failed. However, Jenny has not worked with them to come to some type of common ground, and for that and because she is the "Governor" she is the one in the spotlight and is going to take the fall in my opionion. If this shutdown goes into affect, then the call for jennies impeachment is definatly in order.

Thank God for the MSP and their devotion BTW......I submitted a little comment on that news site...They are correct they did take a oath, and no where in that oath does it say that Michigan State Troopers are not to report to duty because of a government screw up....and for the Union to ask its troopers to still work and for the troopers to actually do it is highly commendable!!

If Governor Granholm really cared about the State of Michigan she would resign because she is incompetent! She said that we would be "blown away" by her performance after 5 years. Well I for one am blown away. Blown away at what a hole Michigan has become. Her performance has been utterly disgusting. Shameful.

P.S- Take the $300 you shorted me on my state tax return and get that wart burned off your face!

I wonder if we could find an attorney out there to file a class action lawsuit on behalf of the citizens of Michigan charging the Governor and state legislature with deriliction of duty, malfeasance, embezzlement of funds since they can't agree on any type of solution to this problem. They obviously can't handle money very well. I think since the state will be shutdown they should not be able to collect state income taxes out of my paycheck!!!!!!

They also get a pension check for the rest of their life from the state, after serving just one term in office.

I am so happy to see you include the state legislature in your post.

Our State Reprsentatives and State Senators have been sitting in Lansing all of this year debating this budget but have done NOTHING to solve the problem!!!!!!!

Yes, Jenny is wrong but our State Representatives & State Senators are just as wrong as Jenny. All three have been playing politics!
