There have been two Peak Wireless systems for a while: the old L64 NXDN96 system, and the new R64 DFA NXDN48 system. The two Moab sites just switched from the old to the new system. Please check any sites in your area that are listed on the old system to see if they have moved to the new system.

dsdplus doesn't like when u enter L or R in the files, I'm not sure the peers are showing yet. but if its a direct frequency allocation im not sure what the LCN's will be, we had to crack that code before.

FYI: Peak Wireless L64 is still active on Tooele County's South Mountain site. I haven't heard anything on the new system yet.

So Basically it will probably use the same frequencies, it will only be nxdn48 instead of nxdn96, and it will have an R instead of an L. Cedar so far hasn't produced a peer/neighbor list or any other info. I've got it running on dsdplus, but without know how a DFA Direct Frequency Allocation works im not sure what the LCNs are or how it puts the channels and traffic, I just changed the info for nxdn48 from 96 copied the rest. Cedar still uses the 451.675 control channel and possibly will use 452.100 as well.. but past that I'm not sure what it will do...

DFA is nice. Once you get the hang of it, you'll find it's easier to monitor than the old system. You don't even need to know accurate LCN's anymore. DSDPlus FL does all the work.

I rather like the slow, methodical approach to transition, over the course of several years. As opposed to the frenzied reprogramming UCA had to do. But they had to do it. PWS subscribers, on the other hand, are not at all concerned with being interoperable with one another.

I wasn't even using the DSDPlus.frequencies file for DFA, but one drawback is that DSD+ wouldn't Hunt For Lost Control Channels when the control changed. Once I added the frequencies it does. The Moab Peak sites switch controls every day.

Cedar has stayed mostly on the 451.675 frequency... but I do have the LCNs for peak dfa for cedar from dsdplus, and some talkgroups.. nothing else new right now, peers 19 20 and 21
