Any ideas on how to optimize TRX-1 Phase-II performance? I have found transmissions to be very choppy and inconsistent.

There is no (fix) for the Whistler "scanners" when it comes to simulcast and especially Phase II while mobile. ONLY a directional Yagi antenna can help and even that is hit and miss from reports here on RREF. The more gain the better. 13db works for me, 7 and 9 did not.

What system and sites are you trying to monitor? It sounds like you may have simulcast distortion.
I should have added that the reception is choppy when compared to Phase I transmissions on the same system. I’ve learned to live with the simulcast issue in my area.

All other things being equal, the difference between Phase I and Phase II is the modulation method. Is your signal strength good? No substitute for a good antenna system. Demodulation might be "on the edge" and one type is ok while the other is not.
