Pigeon Forge Police Main (48001) is seemingly going encrypted or at least partially. I noticed a unit was encrypted tonight. Apparently, radio are gradually being switched over to be able to utilize encryption on PFPD Main. They already had access to selectable encryption on tacs. Apparently, there was an alleged issue during Slammed Enuff involving a live feed of PFPD radio traffic being played over a loudspeaker, as well as live streaming on Facebook and Instagram.

IF true, that is the exact reason they need selectable scrambling. Fulltime ENC is just lazy and unnecessary.

Thanks for the heads up. Does your shack have the ability to tell what flavor they are implementing?

Not really. I do not have a shack or anything, just some portable scanners, pagers, and radios. My guess is it is ADP, like a lot of agencies on TACN seem to be using right now. They already had encryption available as a selectable option on their TAC channels. I would have thought they might just move everyone over to a TAC channel and switch to secure when needed, but it sounds like they may be going a different route.

According to my logs, it's ADP. At a quick glance, 52 unique transmissions in the last 15 minutes, exactly one was encrypted.

I also went back and reviewed the last 60 minutes. It appears that same user switched to E and left it (or forgot about it), every one of that user's TX has been E over the last hour. I've only found two users that used E so far today (at a first glance) on PFPD Disp.
