Tonight while listening to Pinellas County fire fight a commercial fire in Pinellas Park my scanner kept hitting on a new talk group. The TG was 580. Most of the traffic on this channel seems to be focused on hazmat. Does anyone else have any additional info on this TG?

Hello,
Just a quick question. I see that Clearwater has a TG 1300 group. I just had TG 1318 pop up as unknown on Sunday Dec 28 at roughly 1145 to 1200 with activity of directing traffic. The Courtney Campbell bridge and the Round About being mentioned.
Is this a Events TG or another Law Dispatch TG that is not implemented as such?
Thanks

Clearwater has been migrating over to the new system over the last couple of months so it sounds like you caught a TG that’s not yet in the database. Yesterday I caught TG 1324 and I’m assuming it’s also part of the Clearwater migration, but it was full-time encrypted so could not verify.

Anything new on the Clearwater move?
Also, lately I'm hearing less chatter on PCSD and LPD. St Pete is constantly busy. Are both PCSD and LPD encrypting more channels? When LPD Dispatch directs someone to go to CH2 or CH3 I am not hearing anything of late on those two channels. Am I missing something about PCSD, LPD and or Pinellas county in general? It used to be pretty active. Smiles, or has crime, traffic accidents, and ambulatory needs in the county taking a drastic drop? I was running DSD+ on my laptop before I purchased my SDS100 about 6 months ago and using Sentinel for programming. I also purchased the SRC536PRO programming software back then too and looks like I may have wasted my money on that.
Thanks

Traveling to and from work this morning up and down US 19 lots of traffic on PCSO, LPD channel 1 and SPPD on Bear tracker 885. Lot of other agencies now dispatched by PCSO thus more use of MDC I would gather. Don’t listen to Pinellas School Police but then they always had very limited communications even before. Make sure you are mostly monitoring site 5. There is limited traffic on most other sites.

On more than one occasion in the past site 5 has had 2 data channels running at the same time ,one that is not passing any traffic and the other that was passing everything. This happened a few days ago I wondered why the traffic stopped.

Did you by chance catch the frequency for the CC that was not passing anything?

No sorry I didn't the one that was not passing data was much weaker but strong enough for the sds200 stop on it.

A little over a year ago Pinellas did shuffle some of their frequencies to different sites. The next time it comes up if the CC is 851.5875 it is now a CC for Site 10 and needs to be removed from the frequencies for Site 5.

Another possibility is that during band openings you are picking up CC’s from a different system that is farther away. This has happened to me on several occasions. If you set the P25 NAC for each of Pinellas’s sites to 800 it will stop the control channels from other systems from being able to interfere.

Hope this helps

I am hearing quite a bit of chatter on TG 1318 (site 5) today, Jan 12 around 1045 to 1140>, some sort of surveillance of an individual around Clearwater. Car to Car and or Handheld coms. As typing this (1154). Street Crimes was mentioned and is apparently involved in this surveillance. Last heard, some car-wash on H-land Ave. (not sure if a actual street name is allowed be posted here, but you get the idea of location if you live in the area) So, for sure this is not utilities or some sort of maintenance crew.
Guessing the move is still in progress for Clearwater to the 1300's Talk Group. I am placing this into the scanner as Surveillance or Street Crimes.

@ Baayers, Interesting idea on setting the NAC. Just curious what you could be picking up in the 700-800 MHz range. That had to be some sort of a good Temperature Inversion at that range. I see that mostly on 2 meters ssb/digital where I have worked into the midwest a few times. Eventually, I will be putting up my Discone with a amplified low loss splitter I designed so when I move around the house I can tie the scanner into the antenna.

Thanks for your response.. yea I was aware of that and made the appropriate changes at that time.
The recent problem was well after those changes and usually corrected itself after a period of time. The only reason I mentioned it is because of the recent problems with people having reduced traffic as this could be the problem. I usually switch to site 10 to solve the problem until site 5 comes back.
