I've had some free time lately and I was using VRS to see some feeds other than my own, thanks to the other thread about adsbexchange. Recently, I observed a local aircraft using VRS that I was not picking up using Planeplotter. Thus, someone else is in the area and they are able to track aircraft I cannot.

I am using a SBS-1er so I don't know if it is the device or the software that is not picking up the aircraft. I can easily reach out 150 miles and this traffic was less than 10 miles out. I was picking up another aircraft at the same altitude and distance. (It was two CHP helicopters following each other and I could only see one of the two when using Planeplotter to view.)

I am using the latest version of Planeplotter, so I am unsure if it is a setting issue, or if VRS is superior. Still, the issue could be the device I am using. Now that I think further on it, it could be superior software someone else is using to provide that feed I'm picking up on.

Has anyone found one of these programs to be better than the other? Could it be an issue with a setting, or could it be the device? A cursory search only provided banter about possibly feeding one program with the other, but that didn't get me anywhere.

It would have to be the device. The software will display only the data it receives from the device.

Were you using adsbexchange when you noticed the plane on VRS that was not on planeplotter?

This same scenario has been brought up many times with different setups. Unless you are seeing a lot of planes missing from one to the other then I wouldn't be too concerned. You will see slightly different results no matter what you do.

Yes, that is what I observed. An aircraft from adsbexchange, that was not on PP.

Thank you both for the responses. I just wanted to ensure I was viewing and sharing a good feed. Still, I would prefer to capture the one, or many, that seems to have gotten away.
