Likely due to the lack of smileys indicating humor.

Of course the alternative is to endorse the project then be responsible for the consequences. I would find no humor in killing someone or having them burn down their home. If you find that funny, well, no further comment. I take injury or home loss very seriously.

I can EASILY see where someone would try that because it's presented in such a way that is plausible-sounding. IOW, there are a lot of people out there who don't know any better. Should we just keep them in the dark all in the name of humor?

:) :) Humor seems to be lost if someone has to cue you in on it. :)

I don't think the original post sounds plausible. If someone gets hurt doing this they probably shouldn't be allowed around electricity or sharp objects. Also I think that they would end up inevitably hurting themselves if they lacked the intellect of common sense safety. I found the post amusing. We can't sensor the net just because dumb people might hurt themselves. There would be no fun youtube videos either.

If you cannot put up a decent base station antenna, maybe you live in a HOA restricted area or an apartment . Take a coax jumper and replace the pl259 on one end with a AC plug. This will allow you to use the entire power grid as a huge antenna. This works best if you use an "Export" model radio, they are designed to handle the extra power. Disregard the initial puff of smoke, this is just the radio self adjusting to the difference in impedance. You will be the toast of all the Free Banders!

One final word of advice, make sure you turn your mic gain up to the max, that way when you yell FIRE you will be heard.

Excellent suggestion, however you left out the part about adjusting your operating frequency by 60Hz (50Hz in Europe). The 60Hz from the house wiring cross-mojonates with the 27MHz from the CB. More Hertz is mo' better.

And just for those that are not aware, that was a JOKE.

OP, ignore the naysayers. They know it will work. They just want to keep the monster signals to themselves so the can work all the juicy DX and keep you from beating them at the game.

Its kind of below the belt but game on! I will be making my own acid with KOH sulpher and carbon dust. Release a few joules of chemical energy into the mix.

Voyage why would two power strips not work? Original article talked about photonic induction through the human body as a resonator/ choke. Just make sure your grounded and you will be fine.

Well if you're going to go through all the trouble, just attach your antenna to the high voltage lines. Just think of having an antenna all those miles long... :D

As WRT the OP, I've seen people try more stupid things... they often make the news and win a Stella award. Come to think of it, Stella is a good example. Who would think that coffee would be served hot?

You don't remember the infamous Mcdonalds customer who left her common sense at home? We do... 73, n9zas

That coffee scolded her vagina and legs so bad she needed skin grafts and multiple operations. She was like 85. The worker didn't seal the lid and it popped open before the old lady had a chance to grab it. She was in the hospital for a long time. I like to read the facts then judge. Poor old lady, think if that was your grandma? She was purple from her stomach to her knees.

Genius? No. F'ing IDIOT, YES!

1. Amps are illegal on CB in the USA.

2. The green wire is for ground/safety. Anyone who knows what they are doing knows that.

3. Tying two outlets together from the same circuit will increase neither voltage nor amperage. Tying two different circuits together could burn your house down - especially if they come off two separate legs of the 220 line. What this guy is suggesting is STUPID IN THE EXTREME!

3a. Case in point. I'm sure you have power strips. Does that strip divide the power so your lights get dimmer? NO! Neither will combining the same circuit after it is separated create more power.

4. AC is Alternating Current. DC is Direct Current. Again - electronics 101 - don't trust anyone who doesn't know this for advice.

5. RF is Radio Frequency. Again - electronics 101.

6. Connecting a battery directly to AC power will result in an explosion and fire. Why do you think they make battery chargers as opposed to just connecting the extension cord to the battery to charge it?

(are you getting the point yet?)

7. The black on AC is HOT - the black on DC is ground. NEVER connect the two!

8. Aluminum duct tape? You mean the kind that conducts? NEVER use conductive tape on any electrical wire.

There is likely much more but I can't read any more of that pure drivel. It's painful for any competent person to read, and was likely posted on April 1st of some year.

In summary, the guy is trying to con you into burning your house down and/or killing yourself. DON'T DO IT!!!

This reply is just as funny as the original post...:D:roll::D:roll::D:D:roll::p:lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::D:D

It was a joke. I made it up after seeing some absurd youtube videos that don't even try to look real while making outrageous claims.

That just won't work... Every redneck here in the deep south knows that you can buy a 5,000 Watt inverter from Harbor Freight and mount it in your toolbox. Connect the 13.8 to the input along with the output from your CB, change the output frequency from 60 Hertz to 27 MHz and talk to the world!
You will need some schedule 80 3" stainless steel pipe for an antenna which seems to last longer than black iron before it melts. Its directional, but as long as your tires are inflated you can point it any direction you like.
However the local police don't like you transmitting around the airport...it seems to knock aircraft out of the sky and they hit the local doughnut shop!
Sometimes, when the propagation is just right, you can give your girlfriend the perfect suntan...:D
