The exchange of ideas, information, assistance, opinions, etc. are what Groups deal in. It’s the currency of the network. I doubt the social offerings such as Facebook and Twitter have helped keep the newsgroups respectable however. And One individual in particular has used Twitter as his soap box on an almost daily basis. The newsgroups are looking more and more like the social nets every day.

But the negativity you find is just those disgruntled souls blowing off a little steam. As long as it stays civil, I try to leave the negative stuff alone and take only that which interests me. It’s a deliberate selfish attitude that I try to negate by being as helpful as I can. I’ve got enough gripes about Uniden and I’ve tried to post them in a manner which didn’t cause too much excitement. The facts are just that... and they are undisputable. My example is someone thanking Uniden for announcing “Nip it in the bud”. Thank Uniden for what? They made a mistake. They make an attempt to correct it. That’s just good business. I’m not about to thank them for doing what they can to correct their mistake. I bought the SDS100-isn’t that enough?

Ok, that’s about what I wrote but all of it is true. Uniden admitted it in Upman’s post. And as long as this kind of information is presented in a factual manner I see no reason not to includ it here.

I certainly do not want a one sided group. So, for those who think a Uniden news group means the group should only be made up of those who have nothing bad to say about Uniden, I say not so.

If the consumer want's to whine, let them. The only gripe that I find stupid, about the sds100, is the original battery pack. You knew what you were in for. Now you have a low and hi capacity pack. Grow up ! .

Not one sided but the bashing is getting out of hand, 90% of a possibly informative thread is destroyed by useless crying, it’s the same argument every time

What I still don't understand is folks who think some type of bashing is occurring and act like it is they themselves that are being bashed.

If your last name isn't Uniden then perhaps you might just ignore these things rather than continuing to agitate the situation by responding.

Everyone should just let it go.

Not really, hearing I sold my SDS for a unication or where is my battery, or fanboy comments get old, so yeah it’s being called out

I totally agree. The facts are the facts and you cannot change them. And I haven't seen any bashing, just what is to be expected when you pay a lot for something and it does not work as intended or should be working. I enjoy hearing all viewpoints and the ones I don't agree with I skip over. No big deal.

Why? If you have a financial interest in or work for a company, maybe I could see it (defend your company and it's products). Otherwise, it's just opinion and everyone has one.

Everyone has a right to speak their opinion - good or bad. Just because something works for someone it doesn't mean it works across the board everywhere under every condition equally.

There will never be 100% agreement on anything - just don't take what others say personally (because it isn't) or make your response personal about others opinions.

Unfortunately, what I seem to see alot of these days look like personal attacks on people because someone else didn't agree - and it's really dragging things down here.

Yeah I get your point, the only part I disagree with is there is constructive criticism and then there is whining, and it happens on the Uniden forum more than anywhere, you are correct everyone is entitled to their opinion, but the same entitlement applies to the OP and the rest of us who get tired of the same song being repeated over and over.

The Beta posts are a prime example, there are good reports detailing issues in order to make the Firmware better, then their are the snide comments you see in each thread by the same people that are completely irrelevant and add nothing to the topic at hand.

No one is saying you shouldn’t post issues, but why not do it in a constructive way and not call people fanboys, if I pulled that on a Unication forum or Whistler forum, people would be upset

I get it - just keeping saying to yourself however - (a) everyone is entitled to their opinion and (b) don't respond as if it is personal (because again, it isn't).

As for off-topic posts (what is and is not) or drift - let the moderators handle that.

Here's a thought for the sick And Tired:

No radio is perfect and most things come from China, so if that bothers ya, don't buy a radio. Simple.

I know I'm a late reply, but I just can't love this thread enough!!! There's one who complains about others turning media into personal soap boxes while they do the same thing on a listserv. First, they continually wrote long dialects about if the SDS was going to take AAs, and when pointed here where the answer was all along, they showed their feelings on their sleeve about not being a speed reader.

Next they started the "where's my big battery" whine on August 3rd, when Uniden merely said August. Of course as soon as August was over, they started the "where's my battery" soap box again going on Uniden attack, when again Paul said right here that he was just as upset as everyone else, and that it was another vendor holding up Uniden. Their latest soap box is about SMA adapters and how they should be built.

They routinely construct long 2 and 3 paragraph messages about how they appear to have all the answers, yet when someone else posted an opposing opinion, they actually told them to basically shut up and stop posting (paraphrasing, but the message was the same). Just can't love this thread enough... buy and be happy, or return while you can or don't buy.

It's usually the same bad actors that are constantly negative because they just love to pee in unidens Cheerios

Have you noticed that all that complaining has speeded up the process of getting the batteries out? Or not.

Face it, there are people whose lives are so miserable they will do anything to drag others down with endless rants about whatever they can. There's plenty of it around the forums, not just directed at Uniden, but Whistler as well. And don't forget the same people ranting in almost every thread about encryption.

The block feature is truly a wonderful feature of this forum. Use it on the usual suspects, and enjoy BS free threads.
