Click on the PSREdit500 setup file you downloaded. Click "next". Click "I agree" on the License Agreement screen. Click "next" on the Choose Components screen. Click "next" on the Choose Install Location screen. Click "install" on the Choose Start Menu Folder screen. Click "finish" to conclude the setup and run PSREdit500.

So do I have to be a premium member on radio frequencie to get the rest of this

If you want to use the Radio Reference Web Service to program your scanner, yes.... you will need to purchase a premium subscription to RR.

The link below will take you to the page that will give you all the info you need to accomplish that.

Reading everything on the page, and clicking on all the links on that page will tell you everything you need to get up and running with programming from the RR database

How much for this service

Did you click on the link that says "Premium Subscription Information Page"? As I mentioned previously, all the info you need is there. The
"Premium Subscription Information Page" gives you several choices for subscription costs.

Let's make sure you have a connection between scanner and computer. With PSREdit500 open, connect your cable to the scanner and computer. Open the "Configuration" tab at the top-left and click on "serial port settings". Select "direct" next to "cable access method". Click on "apply" to accept and close the window. Again on the "Configuration" tab, click "data options", look for "new configuration defaults", and select Whistler WS1040/WS1065 in the "scanner model" drop down box. Click "apply" to accept and close the window. Go to the "radio" tab and click on "download from radio", making sure the scanner is on. If all is good, you'll see a progress bar entitled "PSR Upload/Download". When completed, whatever frequencies are already in the scanner will be displayed under the "conventional objects" or "trunking objects" tab.

I also have the 1040 and struggle to program it with ARC 500 and WIN 500...Have Win 500 on a another laptop that went belly up. Tired and annoyed of throwing good money into this and getting unacceptable results. Yes, I have updated the current drivers. Appreciate the good info you gave the other fellow; perhaps when I have the time I will try again.

So if I get this it will be easy for me then correct?
Start out with a shorter subscription. The 90-day is only available via mail while the 180 and 360-day can be done online with a credit card. You may find that you don't need the subscription once you 've programmed your scanner. I have typically resubscribed annually as I find value in using the subscription features periodically.

I have frequencies now showing in conventional is that good and now if that is good do I need to factory reset my scanner so when I get the right stuff from radio frequencies everything will be in the right order or just leave these in my scanner
