• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

I am installing a USDD Pheonix G2 GARI with a Motorola PM1500. I am trying to find a pin on the DB25 connector of the PM1500 that will give me a COR/Busy output signal to send to the GARI. I have tried Pin 23 with no success. It wouldn't have to be a COR or Busy output, just some sort of output that I can set the GARI to recognize as being Pulled Up or Pulled Down when the radio is receiving a signal.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Pin#13

Pin#23 is Aux Mic

The radio you referenced is the XTL series. I am fairly confident that this would be the same for the PM1500 series radio since I believe they are apart of the same "family" of radios. Can you confirm this?

Also, the link you provided is for the back of the control head. Is there anything equivalent on the DB25 (J600) connection on the TIB?

Thanks again!

I believe you are talking about J600 which is the 25 pin D connector on TIB. The diagram shows pin 16 but that conflicts with the description in the manual so may need to test. Id also check this thread as he has the page from the manual as a PDF - HERE

I did see that post during my search for the pinouts. Pin 16 doesn’t seem to do anything associated with a busy signal. I have never actually opened up a PM1500 but it’s my understanding that there are some jumpers in there that can be moved to cause the pins to provide different inputs and outputs?

For my particular setup it will probably be just as easy for me to tap into the 26 pin connection on the back of the control head. I would have thought that there would be a 1 pin on that DB25 (J600) connector that would provide a COR/Busy signal output.
