Just curious how many of the folks here have a dedicated weather radio.

I sure do I have an old Weatheralert Forecaster # FC-06 sitting in the window bought it for $2 works great too.

I don't remember the last time I used a weather radio. If there's bad weather approaching, I already knew about it just by paying attention to the forecasts and models. With radios and a Blackberry, I'm never too far away. Weather radios seem pretty low-tech nowadays.

I don't have a dedicated radio for WX, due to the lack of any weather radio broadcasts similar to the US here in the UK (as far as I am aware)...

I use my PRO-528 to listen to NOAA weather radio when bad weather is imminent or in progress.
I have a scanner app for my iPhone that allows me to monitor the Skywarn net in central NC (I am in eastern NC).
I also get text messages from The Weather Channel when anything serious is expected in my area.

i can pick up the Kansas City NOAA transmitter without an outside antenna, however it does not issue warnings for Clinton County.......They are transmitted via the Cameron site, which I cannot pick up inside the house with a stock antenna.

When I want sleep during severe weather, I sleep in the basement bedroom.

I quit monitoring weather radio when they eliminated several 'products'........the State Weather Roundup, hazardous weather outlook, and the summaries.

For me, the automated voice, and excessive safety/survival tips were the final nails in the coffin.

I actually use both! I have wx by my bed and carry a portable in bad weather have it in my radios as well.
