Port Authority NY/NJ EDACS System

I heard that there is currently traffic at times on Port Authorities previous EDACS system. Is there any way I can program it into my scanner without putting it in manually due to the fact that it is not on sentinel?

The EDACS system has not been set to deprecated status yet, it's still active in the database, and would still be in Sentinel. In fact, it's the only DRPA system in Sentinel currently, as the P25 system has no talkgroups listed yet, and so Sentinel ignores it.

Oh, you're talking about the PANYNJ? You should be more specific, as the Delaware River Port Authority P25 system just went online, slowly replacing an EDACS system.

Anyway, the PANYNJ EDACS system has been deprecated for over two years now. You might want to scan the EDACS frequencies conventionally listening for analog voice before you waste time reprogramming it.

You'll have to manually program the EDACS system if you want to scan it. No one has ever mentioned any EDACS still being active in the two years since we deprecated the system, so this is the first I'm hearing of it.

Well PANYNJ EDACS is not exactly fully deprecated, the WTC site is still actively used today, with bi-directional patch to the PANYNJ P25 system.

If anyone has reliable, verified info as to the status of any PANYNJ EDACS sites that are still on the air (WTC or JFK), please submit that info to the EDACS system so we can get it straightened out.

Yeah my bad for not specifying. I got the information from a thread on RR. If I find it, I will post it here, but it should not be too hard to find.

Some of the TG's on the current P25 system are only partially encrypted, is there ever any clear traffic on them to your knowledge?

I was up in the area 2 weekends ago and had 2 radios setup on ID Search, everything I got was encrypted

What does it sound like? An EDACS control channel is pretty unmistakable.

That looks like an EDACS control channel waveform.

Yes it has that hollow sound and I now have decode. EDACS96

Showing only one channel 851.075 cc, access black. Peers “Island” no peers on the peers tab. Site 1, LCN 1 Call history none.

It sounds as if it is idling.
