I just wish I had a scanner that would do P25, but Radio Shack doesn't do payments :-/

I was down at the S. Charleston Radio Shack the other day and they had the Pro 197 and Pro 106 for $399.99 each. Not sure if those were sale prices or just regular prices.

I want it mostly for when I'm mobile. My Icom handles DC-daylight but since it's an amateur radio, it doesn't do any digital modes. I'd like to get a mobile scanner and a smaller vhf radio for the truck, but finances are extremely tight right now.

Threadnecro'ing. Just wanted to update the DB a bit. Since joining the fire dept. and ambulance, I've gotten some insight into PC's radio info (mostly because I do some work on the cruisers for our town). 154.98 isn't just EMS dispatch, but hits all pagers in Preston Co. for fire/EMS.

Update for Preston Co.

We are no longer using any LF equipment at all. We were told that any radio transmissions on the 48mhz system will no longer be acknowledged at Comm. Center (they have had some problems with people doing fraudulent transmissions). The VHF system is a Motorola system which gives each radio's programmed ID (our fire portables are Co. 10 Por 13 for instance).

That's how it looks. We've been dispatched on a phantom brush fire and a few other departments have been dispatched for BS. Mostly "We got reports on LB of a....".
