I just read about the use of priority channels on Motorola systems, and their interaction with the SDS100/200 priority function. (Page 11 in SDS100 Owners Manual) Are any of the systems on TACN known to be using priority channels?

" For Motorola systems that have channel priority active on the system, if you flag a channel as priority and the system also has that TGID identified as a priority channel, the scanner will preempt any current transmission if the TGID becomes active. "

Priority channels are unique to your scanner, not the system itself (nor is it specific to Motorola). You can set any channel or talkgroup you want as a priority channel, so long as it's not encrypted. As your scanner is scanning through other channels, it's constantly checking to see if the channels with priority are active and if they are it will switch to it. Again, this is a feature of your scanner and not on the TACN system. You can use it on conventional frequencies and talkgroups on trunked systems.

Pretty sure he's talking about Priority Monitor on a Motorola trunked system, where certain TG calls in-progress are imbedded in the VC data and can interrupt a different call that is in progress (without any gaps in audio to check for activity).

Ah yeah, forgot about that. I saw that he mentioned the SDS family and assumed the question was about the priority function on the scanners.
He is talking about that function on scanners, but unfortunately Uniden doesn't support priority monitor on 9600 systems, only 3600 systems.
