Hey guys, I just used my scanner for the first time @ Darlington and I absolutely loved it, with one or two exceptions......I'm a NOVICE.....LOL

I would like to try and set my scanner up so that if my scanner is scanning while they're racing/pitting and I want #8, #24, #48, #9 to OVERRIDE ANY conversation what do I need to do?

(Example: #0 (M. Bliss) talked EVERY lap, usually about nothing, well, if he's talking and all of a sudden Earnhardt, Jr. chimes in and starts talking to his crew chief, how will I know?...There has got to be a way so that no matter who is talking, if one of my FAVORITE (priority?) drivers STARTS talking, I want THAT FAVORITE driver to OVER-RIDE the conversation between John Doe driver)

I hope you can understand this example. I know I can lock out certain drivers, but I would rather be open to ALL, BUT let my FAVORITES be heard INSTEAD of a less popular driver EVERYTIME my FAVORITE driver comes on his radio.

Please help!!

heck even call me if you can....LOL

Thanks,

Just program in those 4 cars and your set. I never listen to more then 2 or 3 cars at a time because it just gets annoying. You could also just lock out all but the few drivers you want. BTW why the hell would anyone want to listen to the 2 cry babies in the 24 and 48 anyway

Not all scanners have the same setup for PRI. You can put those in a bank by themself or if each bank has a PRI then you could do it that way.

I dont think so Tim! All those two do on the radio is wine like a couple of little babies. Although it is funny listening to Mr. Wreck Fest Johnson saying how its not his fault everytime he makes a stupid move (and there have been many stupid moves this year) The only thing I'm jealous about is the amount of money they make

I believe you just answered your own question!

Maybe because they ARE on the radio TALKING/WHINING!!!

Oh, by the way thanks for the tip, however, I DO want to scan the WHOLE field while all the drivers are out there. I don't want to lock almost everyone out. For THIS type of scanner it MUST have the capability to over-ride a conversation over another driver if the driver you are wanting to listen to comes on during an existing conversation with a different (less intersting) driver.

Thanks for your reply!

I don't know that scanners can do what you're asking. You could do what LarrySC mentions but, as far as I know, if there's a low-priority guy jabbering in zone 1, the scanner won't look for priority channel activity in other zones.

Thanks, I may end up just CALLING Uniden. I've already emailed them, but you may imagine, I may not get an immediate response (or a response period..lol).

Unless your scanner works in a way that's fundamentally different from others I'm familiar with, Uniden isn't going to be able to help you. Say, what radio are you using anyway?

It's not all that different from public safety listening. You might want to hear day to day citywide police traffic but also prioritize local fire calls and a nearby FBI repeater. You just can't listen to everything all the time with a single radio. Look up the threads on the reasoning behind multiple scanners.

Good tip about using the police and fire scans, but I am not good at all at using this thing, I am VERY NEW to using scanners. I TRIED scanning local police freq. with the larger antenna, but NOTHING-NADA-ZIP....I'm sure that I wasn't doing something right. I REALLY only bought it for NASCAR.

I have a UNIDEN SC230.

Thanks,
Steve
