Hello, Today I received my Pro-106 A/C adapter in the mail and when I went to plug it in I forgot to remove the batteries (I have the black battery holder).
Now it will only turn on if I have it plugged into the charger.

Can anyone offer advice

I believe the black battery holder is the one for the alkaline batteries and it should be isolated from the charging circuit. The problem might be in that when you plugged the charger in to the radio it is holding the contact open in the receptacle and not letting it come in contact for battery operations when the charger is removed.

I would check the battery holder first and try fresh batteries as the other poster suggested as a first check.

If you look in the battery compartment the black holder has only two contacts while the radio has three. As said above I don't think the adapter mixes with the regular batteries. Had you had the alkaline batteries in the yellow holder it would be different.

Yeah your only suppose to charge those in the yellow battery holder.

He charges his batteries on a battery charger. The black battery holder will not have the extra contact to charger the battery as the yellow has. I always charge my batteies on the charger and put them on the black battery holder install them to radio with the a/c connection on and never had any problems.

So what should I do, those rechargeable batteries were expensive.
I can still use my scanner but it's gotta be plugged in.
I'll see if I can use the rechargeable batt. In other things after I get home.
Is it possible that I've wrecked something inside the scanner?

I don't think so since you can still plug in the adaptor to your scanner and it works.

Just a thought when you put the rechargeable batteries in the black holder did you have the adaptor hooked up the right way? The correct way just in case you forget is to make sure the (+) positive side of the adaptor is aligned with the word tip on the cord.

I noticed with mine I have to turn it off before I plug it in or it does not work. I had it on battery and plugged it in and it shut off. Actually is a fairly easy thing to program by software. I am happy. Gonna use the free win program next as my trial will be up this weekend.
