Yes. If you are using software you can send the file to anyone. If you are programming by hand then you will need software and a programming cable to send the information to someone.

I figure you are hand programming because if you downloaded the information from radio reference then it would have proper tags for the talk groups or conventional frequencies.

I have a programing cable and and using the list from Radio RF but if I use that list I hear noting from Lenoir PD etc.
I'm trying to download my list from my scanner and save it for someone to view to see if it setup right
if I can figure out how to post it.

My advice is to keep a note pad by your scanner - when you hear some traffic that you can definitely identify as Lenoir, Granite Falls etc , Make a quick note of your scanner readout . If the numbers are different for each agency it will make programming the readout easier. - - I'm not 100% sure this will work , but its worth a try

When I first set-up my pro106,pro197, and whistler 1065 with the win 500 progam they worked fine. Then they rebanded and they worked fine, Then they go too p25 , the manual change fixed that, then they changed about 8 Talk groups, a manual change fixed that, and they changed more , more, and more talk groups and manual changes keep working . I thought it might help, but it is something simple and I hope you all find it. Because mine are all working fine..

There is a much simpler way.

All that he has to do (if he is using a programming cable and software) is download the correct talk groups from the database.

Gary, which software package are you using to program with?

On home page click on Reference DataBase, Click state of n.c., Scrole down too Viperstatewide P25 click it, then scrole down too caldwell co. That will tell you who belonges to what talkgroup...

Again, with the scanner he has, this is an unnecessary step.

If the scanner is programmed correctly there should be no need for cross referencing the data base. The information can be downloaded directly and display properly with no need to figure out the TGIDs.

Ok here is a VERY basic WIN500 file containing what you are looking for. If you are using WIN500 to upload this will set your scanner up to receive the transmissions you want for Caldwell. If you do not have WIN500, it can be found here; Software for RadioShack PRO-series (PRO-92, 93, 95, 96, 97, 99, 163, 164, 106, 197, 651, 652), Whistler (WS1040, WS1065), and GRE PSR-series (PSR-500, 600, 300, 400, 310, 410) scanners . There is a 30 day free trial , after which you must pay a one time fee of 30 dollars. I have been using it since I got my scanner and it is an outstanding piece of software from radio reference user, Don Starr.

This WIN 500 file is setup to use NiMH batteries (what I use in my scanner). If you use regular Alkaline batteries you MUST use the black battery holder or damage to your scanner may occur. Again, if you are NOT using NiMH batteries do NOT plug in the scanner with the yellow battery holder in place with non rechargeable batteries. That being said (just to cover me), if your scanner becomes damaged from misuse of this setup or your failure to use the proper battery holder I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE.

So here's what's in this setup:

Scanlist quick key-

1. Local police - Hudson, Granite, Caldwell, etc. (including tac/admin channels)
2. Local fire - Hudson, Granite, Caldwell, etc. (including tac/admin channels)
3. EMS and Rescue
4. NCSHP
5. Hospital
6. Conventional Non-VIPER channels that do not fit elsewhere
7. Statewide Events - channels used for events such as NC state fair , races etc as well as local events sometimes
8. Wildcards
9. Misc - things that do not fit anywhere else

Now granted this is just a starting point and no where near what I have in my scanner. There are no Forestry Service, Wildlife, SBI, ALE, Federal or a plethora of other interesting things in this setup. This is just to get you started. You can add things to this later if you wish and think there is something else out there that you want to listen to.

By the way this file only includes the Hibriten repeater (all freqs not just the control channels). I left it very basic and simple so it would be easier to understand if anyone need to try and figure out how it was set up.

Let me know how this works out for you...

Ok Draff I will give this a try latter on today and I want to really thank you and others who have responded
to me on this issue. I did manage to monitor Caldwell sheriff last night but Lenoir PD was silent and I have been using the frequency on the Hibriten repeater. I heard Burke more then any of them and which I deleted them out of the scan list that I got off of RF using the program cable. Seems like Burke came off
the frequency that I typed in for the Hibriten repeater. I just wanted Caldwell. Lol its crazy.
Like I said its been about 2 years since I turned this thing on.

Anyway thanks again.

I just wanted to know if I was allowed to upload a image of my scanner files on here
for someone to view it to see if the setup was right?

Glad to be of service. You are welcome my friend.

Remember, there are lots of interesting things to listen to on VIPER (including surrounding counties, ICE, SBI, etc) during times when our county is not very active. The way things work (in very basic terms) we can hear a lot greater distance since the advent of VIPER. :)
