Pro-163 Questions!

Hello All!
I picked up a Pro-163 yesterday taking advantage of the F&F discount thing. I like the scanner so far. What I need to know is: A. Does the firmware upgrade change anything major? I cannot seem to find a straight answer as to what the updates do. I have firmware version 1.00. B. is there something wrong with the RS support area? I tried doing the latest firmware and got nothing but a blank screen when I opened the downloaded file. I did it twice. I dont get it. I know RS is no Uniden or GRE when it comes to these matters. Any help would be appreciated.

The major correction is with entering LTR system information from keypad.

Change the file extension to .zip, then unzip it. I did that and got the file to work, the .exe extension is wrong. Thne click on the file unzipped.
There were problems with LTR entry and Type I display of groups.
I would upgrade it. I did and have had no problems.

don't feel bad, I wrestled with it all, night, then finally posted for an answer.
But I still don't know all it fixes, but I do know of those two issues, and it seems to have solved those.
Plus it's a great scanner!

It IS a great scanner INDEED! I was hoping against hope not to have to bring it back. I love it. Screen is a pain when switching back and forth between my Unidens and this one however. I'M GETTING OLD....LOL

Thanks for responding. That's interesting. I checked the firmware on my PSR-106 today, and the CPU, and DSP versions were the same version numbers as the current updated versions for the PSR-500, from GRE.
