need some help on how to receive channel 453 65000 p25 29a nac on my pro 197 in san jose ca it says its encryption used. can i get around this. thanks
Yes, but you're not going to like the answer. About the only way to get around the encryption is to join the San Jose PD and get assigned to the Street Crimes Unit. Their radios can receive and decode the signals, but beyond that it pretty much isn't going to happen.
It may (I stress the "May" point here) be possible for you to save a transmission and run this through some software many many times until you happen across the correct key to decrypt that particular transmission (even that would be against federal law, but you asked simply if you could get around it and nothing about the legality of doing so). It also wouldn't work for real-time decryption so you still won't know what they're talking about for several days. Since many agencies that use encryption (especially those that use it selectivly on channels where it's really necessary like this one) change the key regularly and often, even if you could find the key it probably wouldn't help for more than a few days.
I guess you could also steal one of their radios, which might provide you a way around it for a brief period of time (you can assume that they'll quickly change the encryption key once they know that a radio has been stolen). This way is also quite illegal.
