• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

Need help with programming trunking freqs. They are type II. This is a first for me but I am very diligent but have ran into a brick wall every time while trying to program.

I have seen those and followed their steps exactly. It is when the say I should hit the SEARCH button while scanning my trunked bank and that should start scanning for IDs. It doesn't do that instead it goes to a normal search and has the original limit search that I had done preveously on convitional????

Last night I was talking on the phone with a person in Louisiana who has the newer version of the 2052 and it may be that step 10 (see quote below) could be wrong for the new scanner.
10. When completed press TRUNK twice, your bank should be flashing on the top left.
11. Press SEARCH,
You should now see ----- on the display until the scanner stops on a conversation. Then if
the system type is E2-800/900 Motorola, the display will show from 2 to 5 numbers, which is
an ID. If type I or IIi it may list XXX-XX, if EDACS it may be XX-XXX.

Try a single TRUNK in step 10, then SEARCH for the new scanner.

Shellman,

I have taken advantage of the 100 buck deal and purchased the new scanner so that I can compare the two. Review page 27/28 in the new manual for trunking. Trunk programming is the same for both scanners, the only difference is the conventional, which I found to be cumbersome when in the same bank with trunking.

Please post your results back.

Were you successful with steps 1 through 6 on page 27? If not, which step failed?

Did any of the freqs have a buzzing noise after you hit E? If not, you are too far from the transmitter tower to trunk scan the system, or you missed a frequency. What system are you programming...City/County State?

That is your problem, no control channel. All trunk scanners must be able to acquire the duty Control Channel, and you are too far from it or do not have the correct frequency. What system are you trying to program?
