OK, this is a deal breaker for me. I am looking at a 1080, and a 668. Both are basically clones of the PSR-800. But the 1080 added a menu to enter conventional frequencies from the keypad without using a PC. What I am trying to determine is does the 668 also have this menu, or is it a clone of the PSR-800, that does not have the menu for conventional freqs?

If anyone with the 668 could check their menu screen on the scanner and see if it has a option to enter conventional freqs directly from the scanner with the up/down keys. The 1080 does have this feature according to Mark's scanner page. It is the key difference between a PSR-800 and the 1080

ON the front of the scanner push "Menu" scroll down to Enter Conv Freq. It's done there *if it's the same as the WS1080 menus. YOU can do the same addition on the I-Scan program under the conventional feq TAB at the bottom by clicking "add new" on the right. *this is assuming I-Scan software is like EZscan. It's of course much faster and easier adding these through the import on the software than on the scanner itself. Did you get the 688 from a RS Store or order it?

One just sold today for $355. My offer of $325 was accepted on a new one, the BIN price was $389. Radio shack is currently selling them for $425 + tax. So I think I got a good deal.

I'M hating the Pro-668. I tried scrolling down in the menu and NO you CAN NOT add a conventional freq directly. Now, maybe after an update? Otherwise you will have to use the search functions and save that way.

I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for an update. Kinda wish you had chimed in a bit sooner. I should have guessed RS would leave something out. Lol

I reckon that means the 668 is essentially a clone of the PSR-800, and not the 1080, bummer! And no support or warranty to boot. And I could have got the 1080 for $45 more. Oh well, a fool and his money. Lol

I can now confirm beyond doubt the menu entry for conventional frequencies does not exist on the 668. Neither does the squelch sub menu, but I am liking this radio alot

I've been considering either a 668 or a 1080 for awhile now. I've been leaning towards the 1080 in light of the current RS troubles (I personally think they'll be around, albeit as an online-only retailer, possibly merged with some other of that type). Now, finding that they're still holding out on some features...no, thanks, I think I'll go with the Whistler.
