Hello everyone!

I just got done reading this

Easier to Read Pro-668/PSR800 Digital Scanner and EZ-Scan/iScan Software Manual system Easier to read manual.

Learned a lot and made much better sense to programming how ever I have one question I can't seem to figure out.

The person of this easier to read manual is great by the way.

My question is. He mentions that you can program a system into each scan list with what I take he means it's own control channels. So not to have all you site towers control channels fighting to lock on.

I thought all the systems sites from what i take when making your own that the scanner scans all the control channels anyways. Cause I don't really see a option to just have a site per system so say. I see you can add talk groups for that site. So if that is the case then when I am scanner my county for instance and I put in the control channels and talk groups for that site. I make a playlist2 for example which is objects talk groups for that county only. Example livingston county site has dispatch talk group when i put that into playlist 2 it only looks for that control channel tower then?

Sorry guys trying to explain this the best i can. I am just a little confused cause I want to make sure the scanner is locked in when scanning.

Also is there a way to monitor just the control channel and here the motorboat like on my old 96 scanner to see if i can least here the system?

Thanks

" ... Cause I don't really see a option to just have a site per system ... "

1) Import the entire System into the EZScan Program and immediately change the name (Trunked Radio Systems) (Alpha Tag). I choose something like "Any TRS All Sites All TGs".

2) On the same TRS page, highlight your new renamed TRS and (over on the right side of the page) click on "Duplicate". and immediately change the name (Trunked Radio Systems) (Alpha Tag). I choose something like "Site 1" City PD".

3) On the same TRS page, down below (Trunked System Site Information:) (Site Details) highlight a Site you wish to delete, and "Delete" it. Repeat for each Site you want to delete, until you are left with the desired Site/s. For the remaining Site/s, under "Site Frequencies", RIGHT CLICK on each Frequency you wish to delete and select "Delete" from the pop-up menu.

4) On the same TRS page, down below (Trunked System Talkgroup Information:) (Talkgroup Details) highlight all the TGIDs you wish to delete, and "Delete" them.

5) On the same TRS page, down below (Trunked System Talkgroup Information:) (Talkgroup Details), over in the right column, select the Scanlist/s that you wish each TG to populate.

6) Bottom Tab "General Settings". Under "Scanlist Control", enter a Scanlist name (Alpha Tag) of your choosing.
_______________________________________

Repeat steps two (2) through six (6) above for each individual "customized" Scanlist you desire.

Bottom Tab Conventional Frequencies > New > Enter your "new" data in the highlighted new row (Alpha Tag, Frequency, Mode, Squelch, etc.) and in the far right column, select the Scanlist/s that you want to associate with this Frequency. If it is a "virgin" Scanlist, then select Bottom Tab "General Settings". Under "Scanlist Control", and enter a Scanlist name (Alpha Tag) of your choosing.

Hello guys, hope you can help (RWIER) I am new to this digital stuff. Bought this 668 and its frustrating the crap out of me. I have spent all night updating and cant get any phoenix pd. I get mcso, fire, no rwc really.. Once in a blue moon I get phx pd 200 units.

I live in north phoenix 101 an d17
I been in the software trying to make playlists, tried that cheat sheet posted in RR it a ll french!

I am about to return the darn thing. Anyone in Phoenix help a fellow out and walk me through this. I am sure I am missing something easy and stupid I just cant get the hang of it. I have changed the settings to lower the data and also have only the control channels in the talk groups to un clutter it (advice from a you tube video)

As fun as it is listening to only MCSO and the robot from fire dispatch it sucks to have to log in and monitor the feed phx pd and not use my 541.00 scanner i bought.

Thank you all in advance!

More troubles

today I cant even connect the radio to the computer it says unrecognized device. No way around this I even looked in the root folder and the "drivers" folder i copied to my computer is now empty. good luck with the doc. I am going to return this piece of ****.

Last night I dont know how I did it but it went to a search mode and it found 2992 and other phx police loud and clear! then I hit the back arrow on accident and it did that load play crap... Somehow I couldnt get back to that mode at all! So i started over and I used the radio option clear list it wiped out the whole radio back to nothing. I tried to reconnect the radio to re load my new settings from the rs software and now I cant connect no matter how many times I try or re install software. I am pretty tech savvy and this radio is no way user friendly or plug and play like they sell it!

I am going to Hit up Ham Radio Outlet see if that scanner master is still around return the 668 and see if they have a better model? I am kinda at my wits end.

Hope to hear for you soon!

There is a known PROBLEM with Windows and the driver needed for the 800, 668, and certain Whistler models. I believe the solution is basically the same for all of these. I did a search of the RR Forum on this subject and the search returned:

The RadioReference.com Forums - Search Results

Also there may be help at:

Pro-668 - The RadioReference Wiki

These RR Site locations will only address the USB/Windows/Driver/Software/connection problems. The SOLUTION is a somewhat complex series of steps that must be done EXACTLY and in the PROPER order.

One thread in the first listing above that appears to have potential is:

http://forums.radioreference.com/radio-shack-scanners/313637-pro-668-software-usb-cable-driver.html

If you decide to keep the 668 and are successful in getting your scanner to properly connect to your computer (Software connects to/with the computer), post that success, and we will go to the programming subject.
