I have a pretty clean Pro-82 from a yard sale that works intermittently. It may scan for 30 seconds or a few minutes, then it will stop on a channel. All the keys will still function, but audio is gone and stays on random channel. I opened it up and its clean inside, any ideas?

Same channel stopping all the time, or random channels ?

Random, I hear a quick little squelch sound and it locks up. At that point there is no audio from squelch or the channel it stops on.

Turning it off and on gets it going again? Any signs the radio was ever dropped? If so, you could check the PCB for any cracks.

Considering that it is a 20+ year-old radio, it could be a failing capacitor, resistor, transistor, etc.

I'll try my big magnifying glass and take a look. It was cheap enough to toss on the broken radio pile that I've accumulated.

Good thing. My lightly used PRO-95 went bad just sitting on the shelf. Turned it on one day, and the audio was very low and tinny. Batteries were fresh. Bad capacitors in all likelihood.

Update, used the technique I learned here about Deoxit in the sealed squelch and volume. It has been working fine for 3 days.
