Pro-83 problem?

I just purchased a pro-83 as a second scanner. Anyways, I keyed in 6 freq's into the scanner, and whenever it picks up radio traffic, it sounds like it is scanning a priority channel, even though I don't have pri on any of the freq's I've keyed in. I see that there is a "P" on memory position 1, and I do have a freq stored there. Is that what is causing it? Help !!!
