Looking for help with my Radio Shack PRO-92.

I turned it on two nights ago and the screen says *CLONE MODE* up to send, remove cable to exit.

I cannot get out of this mode.

1) Left the battery pack out of the radio for one day - no help

2) Hit the reset button (near a/c adapter jack) with battery back installed AND removed - no help

3) Inserted and removed the data cable several times - no help

4) I pressed up, let it go thru the send cycle, but it came back to the screen as mentioned above.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Pro-92

The scanner goes into CLONE mode when it sees a cable plugged into the PC/IF jack. If it gets stuck in that mode, it is likely an issue with the jack. Considering we're talking about a PRO-92, age is an issue because the contacts can become oxidized and not make good contact. The signal to the CPU which indicates clone mode is likely not making contact when the cable is not plugged in.

I'd try using some contact cleaner spray on the jack (I'd open it up to do this) and plug the cable in and out several times. Then power it on and see what happens. If you have an ohm meter, and can follow the signal, you'll see what I am talking about. Good luck.
