I've got a Pro 96 and a digital P25 tower in my area. I've discovered by going through the channels manually that I'm not getting all of the digital traffic. The frequncies are: 866.42500 866.73750* 867.06250* 867.38750 868.37500 868.67500 with the second freq being the primary CC. Right now I have the freq's programmed in the order that they are printed above starting on channel 00 in that bank. Does the CC need to be in the first ch? I don't know for sure how I should program the freq's to get all of the traffic. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

You need to set those frequencies up as motorola trunked system (refer to page 33 of your pro 96 manual). They have to say MO not FM.

I've programmed them as MO and set the bank trunking mode to MO, but i'm still missing traffic.

If you go into the bank manually and go to the control channel what kind of signal % are you getting? Maybe you are to far away from the tower.

it could also be an antenna issue. if you don't have one you might consider getting radio shacks 800 mhz antenna. it works very well for me.

For a Motorola system, you only need to program the control channels, and the order doesn't matter. Each frequency must be set to "MO" for the mode, and the bank must also be set for Motorola. If you haven't programmed in any talkgroups, then you must run in "open" mode. If you have programmed in some talkgroups, set the bank for "closed" mode and you should only hear traffic from those talkgroups that you have programmed into memory.

I wonder if I was getting some conventional non-trunked traffic when I was going through the freqs manually?

Unlikely, but possible. The only thing you're scanner shouldn't pick up on is private conversations. Other than that you should be receiving all the traffic including possible encrypted traffic (if running a 9600 baud system). Also, all you need with moto systems is the control channel. You may invest in a PC interface cable if you have a computer and use it to monitor the traffic with Pro96com. This would insure that all the traffic running on the system is being heard.
