• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

Nope. You must purchase and program an actual ProVoice radio to monitor ProVoice. Do a search on the forums and you'll find out the details. I don't have a provoice system near me that I'd be interested in, so I can't help any more than that.

Like AZScanner stated, you can not monitor ProVoice on an digital scanner or any scanner for that matter. There is an good posting in the Texas forums that has been "stickied" giving an run down on San Antonio's ProVoice system. Saw where you had posted some questions about Texas DPS/ Rangers so I take it that is your target area you are looking for (Texas)

ProVoice is an type of "digital modulation" for EDACS radio systems.

Some day if it gets asked enough the 'first' answer might even be correct.

ProVoice is M/A-COM's digital voice system, used on their CONVENTIONAL systems and Trunked (EDACS) systems.

Yeah. :) But ya gotta just let it go. Complaining about it can get you in trouble.

We are going to have to live the fact that some peoples knee-jerk response to everything is to be spoon fed.

*sigh*

I guess I better provide a dumbed down .. errr .. expanded translation of what I just said before someone else goes into orbit. :)

What this means is that it is okay to be a newbie. But, please, try not to be a spoonie. (did I just coin a new term there? :))

We all have to start at some point and learn from there. That being said, there is a difference between those that have tried to find an answer to a question and those that just ask the first question that comes to mind without doing research.

medic9351301, we all welcome here at the rr.com fourms and we look forward to any more questions from you in the future. The good news is that most of them might already be answered for you!!

You might have to look through some past posts to find them, but at least you will have instant gratifiaction!! :)
