I am new to trunk radio and I need help. I have the arc 500 software. I used this software to download from radio reference . The county is Wyoming county and the repeater is Kopperston. Now here is my problem. I do not receive anything for Wyoming County with this program from arc 500 but, I have and do receive the police from Wyoming County when I program it under a wildcard. So please understand that I am new to this and I need to know if there is anything else I can do to correct this issue.

First off, ensure you have at least the primary and alternate control freqs for Kopperston (and Twin Falls if you can receive that site) programmed under system freqs.

Second, ensure you have correctly entered the correct talk group ID's. (5807 sheriff, 5823 [private], sheriff and 5851 (EOC). You might also want to program 5941(OES).

That should be all you need.

You never said you were in WV. Fortunately, I'm somewhat familiar with WV. If you continue to have difficulty, you'll want to post in the WV forum; there are plenty of Pro 106/197 users there that can help you.

Thank you for your quick response. Here is the information I have used. 453.5125 ( c ) 453.1875 ( a ) 460.0250 460.085 460.425 The repeater I used was Kopperston. I will do a reprogram and add Twin falls. Other information used is Wyoming EOC TGID 5851, Law 5807, o PV 5823 . I will use the 5941 ( OES ) I have a health problem ( low sugar ) and sometimes I mess up. Sorry. I did not realize until this morning that I had not mention Wv or more useful information. Should I use default or do a custom? I enabled the check cc. I thank you and other's for understanding that I am totally new at this and I am in the learning process. Glad to know you and as I always tell people I meet I pray you have a great day and once again I thank you. I will let you know how it goes later.

Fortunately, GA
You will need to use a Custom Trunking Table to allow the scanner to work on the statewide system. It is Table 1. If you go to the database, and go to the system, it will show you the table to use.
I don't use Arc500, so can't point you how to do Custom Tables. I use Win500 and it is very simple to configure those kind of systems.

In ARC 500 under Trunk Systems you will see the labels at the top. For each tower you use go to the
T-Tables label and change to "custom" and then go to the next label "Edit TTables" and double click to edit the table. Fill in the information given in the database and save. This should help you receive Wyoming County.

Thanks. Is this correct? CH-LOW- 8192 CH-HI-12287 - BASE FREQ- 453.0250 - OFFSET- 8192 STEP 12.5 ( 2 ) CH-LOW - 12288 - CH-HI- 16383 - BASE FREQ-450.000 - OFFSET 12288 STEP 6.25 Also would it be better to put each system in a separate bank instead of it all in one bank? Like 5807 in bank 1 and 5851 in bank 2 and 5823 in bank 3 or just combine all into one bank? You all have been so good to respond and I will take the advice given,

You have the correct information. Since Wyoming County has only the three talkgroups on that network you can leave them in one scan list (your scanner does not have banks but instead has scan lists). However if you also have downloaded Twin Falls you will want to put the same talkgroups into another scan list. Remember that on ARC 500 scan list 1 is the default and everything will end up there until you change it. I also see a couple of statewide frequencies listed. One is the statewide portable site and the other is the WVRRT portable site. I don't know if you will receive anything from these sites. You can also put different talkgroups into each separate scan list. For example I see from the database there are federal talkgroups and railroad talkgroups Again I have no idea as to the activity of these groups.

In looking at the database it does not appear that your county sheriff's department uses the statewide system yet. If this is the case you will simply download the frequencies you want to listen to such as 159.09 (dispatch). Once again remember that anything downloaded will automatically default to scan list 1 until you change it. You could put the sheriff's department in one list, fire department in another etc.

Thanks Shadcall, I have put the twin falls in with the Kopperston repeater for Wyoming Co and in the same scan list. I did not know that could be a problem. So glad you told me. This trunk system will take a while to learn but thanks to you all I am getting there little by little. Also I did not know about the possibility of Wyoming county being in with some of the state sites. I will change everything in the morning and I hope this will help me also. I say it will. Any one else have any advice ? I am always wanting to learn. Thanks everyone.

Shadcall, I have one scan list now with both Twin Falls and Kopperston repeater's and the other scan list set up with each repeater in separate scan list so I can see what is going to work best. Not much traffic this morning but here is what had shown up in the scan list with both repeater's in the same list. This is including the control the ( c ) and ( a ) channel's. This is the order that is in the display. Wymg Co Wv 453.1875 ( a )----453.5125 (c )-------460.0250-----460.0875------460.425-----454.500 ( c )-----------454.4500 ( a )------454.100-----460.3375----460.2875----453.6875----453.8175 ( a )---453.8125-----------------460.06250----460.1000----. Now I know some of these are repeated twice in the scan list but the only thing I had put in was the ( c ) and ( a ) frequencies. The rest were there after I had received a few transmissions from Wymg Co. So let me know if this is how your scanner did and if this is correct. I am receiving Wymg Co 5807 Law but I have yet to receive the 5951 eoc or the 5823 LawPV. Perhaps they have not been speaking on those systems yet. I am still doing the wild card search for more information. I have also a BC 396 xt DMA scanner and I had used the FreeScan programing for this scanner with no problem. By the way another repeater that Wymg Co use is Flat Top When you look up the license for Flat Top you will see the listing for Kopperston ferquencies. Thanks to you guy's I am starting to enjoy the trunk systems more now. I downloaded the Easer To Read Manual from Mark's web site it help a little but I was still confused until you all gave me your help and advice. Please let me know if I am doing anything wrong or if I need to do anything different. P. S. sorry to be so long winded.

Columbas, you can include all system freqs on your list. You only need to enter the control freqs (the ones listed with "c" or "a"), but it's ok if you list all site freqs. Also, you only need to enter talk groups once in one scan list.

I'm glad you are starting to receive transmissions. Your setup looks good and must be working for you. My own personal preference is to put all the frequencies listed in the event the control channel changes. Since I don't live there I can't comment on the traffic on 5951 (EOC) and 5823(Law PV). As you indicate it may be there is not traffic on these talkgroups or as in many areas they may only be used on a limited basis. EOC is your Emergency Operations Center and may operate only under special circumstances. The Law PV is listed as private so may not receive much traffic.

You may also wish to include other agencies in your scan lists. For example state police can go in a list, dept. of natural resources in a list etc. There seems to be a lot to listen to but it all depends on your interests.

Yes I am now receiving the trunk frequencies for Wymg Co law. They went private a couple of times but I did not pick them up on the Private. However that is when I was still trying to get everything programed. I have not picked up anything on the EOC as of yet. I wonder though just how many trunk frequencies they have in their system. Could it be 25 or 28 or less? So far the information I have programed is all I have received so far. I have programed everything per say as the advice everyone had given on the subject and I want to take the time once again to thank each and everyone for their help. You all have been so kind and understanding of my not understanding this trunk system. With the help from everyone I am now enjoying the scanning hobby much more now than ever. I am sure there are others that have been reading these post that it has help also. If anyone has anymore information to share I would welcome it. Sometimes the traffic for Wyoming is very busy and then there are times they go for hours without speaking. But, that is when they go back to conventional frequencies.
